Is the NA Suikoden V OK for European consoles?

Just sking, coz I wanna buy my friend some, and I'm afraid it won't work and all, considering he uses a European PS2.

Nope, different encoding. He can mod his ps2, buy a NA ps2 as well, or wait for the PAL release this fall (it is fall right?).

Nope. They are different regions. US is on region 1 and Europe is something else. I think actually at least some parts are region 2 which is actually shared with Japan but still can't be used for a reason.

Europe has a different broadcast standard than the US or Japan. While europe uses the 25fps Pal standard, japan and the us use the 29.97 fps ntsc standard. What this means is that if you try playing ntsc format on a pal tv it won't work.

You need a modded or american/japanese ps2 combined with a television that can display ntsc format.
