Since I'm only at Lv. 7 and my MAG is my lowest stat (yet I lead a regiment of magicians; rattle that one around in you head), my current set of runes is as follows.

Head: -----
Right: Sword of Thunder
Left: -----

I prefer a little more versatility in battle than what an offensive magic rune would currently offer me, so I've decided to let the magic enhance my normal abilities rather than become them. One with my low level wouldn't be terribly effective with a standard Lightning rune anyway.

Potential additions once the slots become available would be a Fury or a Killer.

I guess I'll list mine, I'll have them all filled up this time. I'll use the stats from Suikoden III as it's the latest in the timeline, and probably makes it the most relevant.

Head slot - Flowing Rune

Healing magic. Upgraded version of the Water rune.

Breath of Ice - 100 damage to target in area.
Kindness Rain - Heals 400 his points for allies in area.
Silent Lake - Stops magic chanting for 3 turns.
Mother Ocean - Restore 1 ally's hit points, status and combat state.

Right hand slot - Killer Rune

Critical hit chance multiplied by 1.5.

Left hand slot - Rage Rune

Attack magic, best vs. groups. An upgraded version of the Fire rune.

Dancing Flames - 150dmg to target, foes and allies in area.
Blazing Wall - 400dmg to target, foes and allies in area.
Explosion - 700dmg to target, foes and allies in area.
Final Flame - 1200dmg to one foe.

Basically this setup is Sarah's with a killer rune.
