Saiyuki is both on TV/DVD and on paper (manga) and I think that it is the best thing since sliced bread.

So far there are 8 volumes of Manga out and 7 DVDs of Saiyuki and 1 DVD of Saiyuki: Reloaded

Kudos to Kazuya Minekura for a fabolous series

The main characters are as follows

Well I have never actually seen any of Saiyuki on TV/DVD, but I really enjoyed the PSOne TRPG game of Saiyuki. Does the show relate to the game much? Or are just the characters basically the same?

There are also two other Saiyuki games on PS2, though they are nothing and nowhere as good as the Strategy RPG available on Playstation.

Saiyuki: Gunlock (Strange Fighting game)
Saiyuki: Reloaded. (Different form of RPG)

'Gensomaden Saiyuki Reload Gunlock' or just plain 'Saiyuki: Gunlock' is also the name of the last part of the Saiyuki series, if I'm not mistaken. Though Animax is still to show this supposed last installment, I think it's going to turn out ok.

About the series in general, I like it. The antics can get a bit repetitive (How many times can you shout 'Shut up, you stupid monkey!' and not get tired?) but it's worth a laugh or two. I'm frankly intrigued by the story of Nataku and Goku, though they never really elaborated on that... or maybe I just missed those episodes. :?

no its like saying "that other suikoden is a genso suikoden" and "suikoden: demon century" is the genso suikoden anime. three or so suikodens. but they aren't the same.

I thought so to, but, with help from wikipedea you can learn somthing.
Its also taken from another...story/play/what not...

the two, maybe three have some things in common, yet nothing. but all orginate for anothern source. I haven't seen the anime of this, but considerd it, I haven't read it but thought of doing so anyway.

also I think this anime is in "modren times". I'm not sure.
