[p:erkezej6]Reynolds set down his pen, fairly satisfied with what lay before him. He'd made some assumptions, jumped to some conclusions, but it seemed like the most accurate resolution. Tomorrow morning was the big speech. His decision was a huge political risk for himself, but the best one, he felt, for his people. The sun had long set when he stood up from his desk and carried the paper out into the main lobby, where his secretary was waiting.[/p:erkezej6]
[p:erkezej6]"Awh Barbara, you didn't have to wait around on me. It's late. You should get home."[/p:erkezej6]
[p:erkezej6]"My desk needed tidied up anyway. This place has gotten to be a mess lately," she replied modestly.[/p:erkezej6]
[p:erkezej6]"Well, I appreciate it." Reynolds placed the speech under a copy machine and poured himself the fresh pot of coffee she'd been thoughtful enough to brew.[/p:erkezej6]
[p:erkezej6]"Oh, I'll take care of that for you," Barbara walked over toward the machine. "Just get some rest for tomorrow."[/p:erkezej6]
[p:erkezej6]"Thank you," Reynolds responded, and took her up on the offer. Tomorrow was going to be a big day alright. What he planned to provoke could kick off a whole new kind of war.[/p:erkezej6] |
