Good guesses guys, but I must say that those are both wrong. I thought this would be easy one. Warlock was certainly a good guess, RandomGuy. Alas, the guesses are both incorrect. ;-) The question still stands.

*ding ding ding* Everyone's Grudge has gotten the correct answer. The character is indeed Crowley, the Father of Unite Magic. You have to recruit him within the most remote part of the cave behind Qlon Temple in Suikoden 1 and he was also able to defeat death through reincarnation. Warlock was a good choice, as well, due to the fact that he was Father of Rune Cannon Magic and you had to go through a remote cave to recruit him, but he was not able to defeat death.
