MGS4 sold so much that Konami's doing good now. They've also sold much more copies for PS3 than PS2. What this could mean is:
They can put more cash to develop Suikoden for bigger audience.
Or they can dump Suikoden and only keep doing titles like MSG.
If they do make Suikoden, it's now most likely to come out on PS3 than PS2. |

52.1 million... didn't MGS4 cost like $100 million, spread over several years? So if that's all from MGS4, and other games, it means they're still heavily in the red for MGS4. Obviously Konami is a wealthy company, but that report doesn't sound too good to me. However, now that MGS4 is done, it won't use up developing costs anymore, so future profits should go up. |

I'm pretty sure that MGS4 didn't cost 100 million to develop. Seems like a product of the rumor mill. It's probably more like 20-40 million tops but that's just me speculating. And actually, Konami has spread out there businesses a bit, if I'm not mistaken they running a real estate company and health clubs in Japan. They have revenue coming in from all over.
Not to say that they will have money for Suikoden development, I mean their E3 showing was pretty pitiful so most of those games probably won't generate much money. |

Whatever they made from that game, it wasnt enough. Even the most rational of thinkers have spend $500 getting a PS3 for it after playing it.
However, I'm guessing that the funding for Suikoden 6 has already been decided. It's not like they havent started working on it yet. _________________

Konami is a fairly large company if I remember correctly, that doesn't deal with just video games, but things like anime, action figures and other toys, casino things, for some reason I want to say appliances like refrigerators. (Though not sure why, and could be totally wrong) And yeah, health and fitness spas in Japan. So they have alot of income from different places.
However, it would be completely bad business for them to continue a line of products that they lose money in. I seem to remember Vextor mentioning once that he wouldn't be surprised Konami of dropping their Video game lines besides their few top sellers and focus more on their other business aspects. And with RPG's seem to be on the downfall lately, it wouldn't really surprise me if they didn't. _________________ Be awed by our prowess!
