I don't have notifications set for post replies, but I do have it set for new private messages and I haven't had a problem receiving them, though I don't use Hotmail for that particular function. Most of the time, I'm not online when I get PMs so whether those notifications arrive on time is just a guess, but I always seem to get the notification right when I receive a PM whenever I get one when I'm online. _________________

No, the notifications go to my yahoo address, and it is actually the first time I notice a delay.
The problem fixed itself, so I don't think it is a big deal, unless it happens again.
I was only worried because I thought the notification feature was gone. _________________

I think the notifications problems are back again after fixing themselves, so I'm going to try and set up a new account with gmail - with Harukaze's help - and see if I can make that work instead.
I've opened a new gMail account (thanks Harukaze!) so we'll see in a few moments if it works.
Oh and I've just reset my settings so that I don't recieve notifications, logged out, logged back in and re-selected to receive notifications.
Well, it's not worked yet. This is a little annoying.
Other than actually changing my email address, which I've done, am I missing a huge menu somewhere that allows you to direct where your notifications go? _________________

The delay is likely caused by the routers between Suikox's server and the server of your ISP. Using different e-mail accounts probably won't help. The only way is to get a new ISP or something--or to use a proxy, perhaps. |

A proxy is a type of server that exists to redirect your network info packets. It's basically like taking a detour around a traffix jam.
For example, some sites restrict network traffic from certain nations (such as some foreign gameing sites that make downloads really slow for non-natives). To get around this, you can route your connection through a proxy in the target nation, so you don't have to go through the foreigner queue.
Proxys can be added to most any browser under properties or "internet options."
Finding proxies is a different matter, because there are various kinds of proxies. |
