That happens in Bahamut Lagoon... sort of. It adds little gameplay and nothing to the story, though.

My feelings on this are mixed. I'm sure domestic elements could indeed be used to deepen the story or expand the gameplay of an RPG. On the other hand, the fantasy genre thrives on adventure, which you might say is the polar opposite of anything domestic (though there are of course exceptions). So where do you draw the line?

I do agree that the way relationships are depicted in games is too shallow. Unfortunately, any improvements in this area are likely to be very gradual, and more likely not to happen at all. Developers would likely have to break away from some comfortable, not to mention popular, archetypes. Is the demand really high enough to justify the risk?
