|
|
Hmm, slightly old news but I am excited. I loved the second and third Growlanser so much. I explored every little corner in those games and practically learnt it by heart. When I heard that the fifth was being released in North America, my heart sank. I didn't think any other Growlanser game would be translated after Working Designs tanked a few years ago.

Up to V already and I've never heard of it. Then again, it's yet another series that never made it to British Soil *whimper*.
Either way, looks alright, music's fun, hope I get a chance to play it some time. But I probably won't. _________________

IV's not being planned on being released, apparently.
Turns out Working Designs --the company that took II and III to America-- had closed their doors soon afterward, out of business. And then no-one took up the offer to do the same for IV. (Hey, I found this all out within the time it took since my last post. Go Investigator Mikhail! :o ) _________________

I thought this was already known for a while... I checked out the japanese version and it looks almost exactly like II, I guess I don't have too much of a problem with that since it looks very suikoden I & II like, but why does all the colors of the Growlanser series look so washed out and diluted? _________________ SAVE A.D. - S.O.B.s

Yeah, I hinted that in my post but that's pretty much the story.
How does it look like II? The camera angle is way higher, the sprites look smaller, the menus are apparently different... the artwork look the same and the feel is still there, but I don't really see that much similarities. _________________

I noticed on the cover of V is the subtitle "Generations," though it looks like the official subtitle will be "Heritage of War." I've also got the Growlanser Generations set, even though I have yet to actually play it. I've heard it through reliable sources that someone has the Arc the Lad Collection but has yet to play it. I'm not sure why I mentioned that, maybe just to show that I'm not the only gaming procrastinator out there. |

Luckily it's one of those games where you can play for one or two maps, and be done for the day. Though there's alot of side stuff both of the games.
I knew Working Designs went under, but I didn't know, nobody picked Growlanser IV and went straight to V. _________________ Be awed by our prowess!

Yeah, I hate it when companies skip over games and move to the next (our PAL members know the feeling with Suikoden III) but at least they're not changing the numbering so it will seem like they are giving us the next installment. I guess it's easier when games use subtitles instead of numbers (like The Legend of Zelda, so long as you don't could Zelda II).
While Working Designs did close up shop, Working Designs President Victor Ireland has founded Gaijinworks, which is pretty the same thing as Working Designs without the exclusivity to Sony. Unfortunately, the site only contains the company logo on the front page so there's not much to see. _________________

I don't do this a lot, so forgive me if this isn't the right way to do it, but:

Anyway, I probably won't be getting this, or if I do it will be used and cheap. I wasn't terribly fond of II or III, so I don't see any reason to pick up this one. I am glad ATLUS is bringing it over, though. They do good work and have good taste. _________________ Can your science explain why it rains?

Oh, new eye candy! <writes down game as a must-have>
