Luc's Soul and "Guardian's Eye"

Was Luc not in possession of the Guardian's Eye even before he was appointed as Bishop? If I recall correctly, he was using it during the fight with Shiba and the Fourteenth Unit of the SFDF. So I guess it's given even before the appointment?

Yes, you are correct. He can use it in the battle against the Lizard Clan in the very beginning of his Chapter. You can also see it in his Status page.

Maybe he stole it. Or maybe the programmers didn't want to make two different fighting animations for him.

Or maybe he just started using a ring after Suikoden II. It's been a while since I played Luc's chapter, but wasn't he a bishop before they went to kill Zepon?

I believe Luc had a PERMANENT lucky ring as one of his accessories in Suiko 2 so that would explain the ring he had in 3.
