Found this eariler today. It's pretty neat I think. http://www.gotoquiz.com/what_american_accent_do_you_have The questions are like "does [word] rhyme with [word]?" or "do you say [word] differently than [word]?" Yeah.
My result was North Central/Minnesota.

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot. |
I am Canadian! :O So I guess I would fit in in Minnesota. My second was western and midland, which were pretty close together. _________________

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
wooo midland. Tis pretty close to where I live considering I am from Maryland.
Philadelphia
The Inland North
The South
The Northeast
The West
Boston
North Central
*thats the order I got from the results of the quiz*
by the way I love these quizes lol _________________

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak. |
To New York! |

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Inland North
You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."
The Midland
North Central
The Northeast
The West
Philadelphia
The South
Boston

Hmm...I'm from mid east US so it's a bit odd... _________________

I thought I'd give this a go, since I'm from Glasgow, Scotland. Curiosity got the better of me so lets see what American accent I would apparently have:
Your Result: Boston
You definitely have a Boston accent, even if you think you don't. Of course, that doesn't mean you are from the Boston area, you may also be from New Hampshire or Maine.
I have no idea what people from Boston sound like, but this quiz seems to think you have a Glaswegian accent. Awesome. _________________

I'm from Michigan, so that's accurate. |

Indeed I do. Of course, I grew up around the Chicagoland area, so I suppose speaking like one is from Northern Illinois is, indeed, not entirely farfetched. :*laugh*: But whatcha gonna do, eh? I'm gonna get a pop, anyone wanna come with? :*laugh*: _________________

The three close runners up were:
The West
Boston
The Midland
I suppose that's accurate as I've lived in the west all my life and, sadly, have never even been out east. The furthest I ever got was Edmonton, Alberta. (convinced me that the coast is where I belong!) |

Sounds about right. I got my accent from my dad who grew up in Philadelphia. So that looks about correct there. I don't really have an accent, I suppose. _________________

Everybody has an accent. You just can't hear it. ;)
When people say "you don't have an accent", they generally mean you have a very standardized accent. A midland accent would be a standardized American one. _________________

Lies! Everyone has an accent, even if they speak "standard English," that is still technically an accent.
EDIT: Sophita, I will destroy you.

Well Considering I do live in New Hampshire, it's dead on. It's kind of neat, I didn't realize I even had an accent until I left for school, whenever everybody started making fun of me for it. "I'm gonna park the car in Havard Yard!" _________________ Be awed by our prowess!

Your Result: The West
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta. |
Montana is the west.... _________________

But look on the bright side! You speak the Queen's English, something I'll never be able to do. :*laugh*:
Although I don't think I'm half bad at keeping the u in colour and the like. :D _________________
