I just wondered if there was more background then given about Zamza. I know he was expelled from magic acadamy because he believed that you also need a strong body, rather then just a strong mind, and using this he combined magic with combat, then was magic instructor, but other then that is there anything anyone else knows? |

I'm not sure, though I do know that a friend of mine has come up with the idea that he is from Nagarea. Not sure if that is in fact canon, but the way he made his story made it seem plausible. _________________ Castle North Wind - A Suikoden RP! |

There is no confirmed information regarding Zamza's origin as of now, but it is very possible that he came from Nagarea.
First, he wears clothes similar to Kasim Hazil - namely the robe and kafiyeh - who came from Southlands, suggesting that Zamza also came from one of the countries of the Southern Continent. The Middle-Eastern flavor of his clothes is also comparable to Eresh's costume, who we know for certain is from Nagarea.
Also, he was a magic academy dropout. All Suikoden in the series from the first to the fifth make no mention of such academy existing in their respective nation-settings, hinting that Zamza is not from any of those nations. Greenhill is an academy which indeed teaches runology, but it also was never referred to as a magic academy. The existance of a specific magic academy itself implies that the country retaining it has a deep involvement with magic in its structure. As far as we know (or maybe it is just my unchecked imagination), the only countries with such description are Holy Kingdom of Harmonia and Theocracy of Nagarea. _________________

New Armes seems closer to Southern Asian in nature as opposed to the Middle-Eastern atmosphere of Zamza's clothes. _________________

I think if Zamza was from Nagarea he probably would have held the belief that Riou should not have fought with Kobolds, Dragons, Fish creatures etc. Since Nagarea is a highly racist nation. If theres any place hes likely to come from, it's New Armes, that's my opinion. |

However, Eresh apparently have no objections in fighting with the dwarves and beavers of Falena. The ideology of a nation does not necessarily reflect the ideology of its citizen.
Of course I do not ignore the possibility of him coming from any other countries in the far-flung corners of the globe. I just found that the possibility of him coming from Nagarea is rather high compared to other nations, even if only based on circumstantial evidences. _________________

Is it really sait that Nagarea is a racist nation even against beavers and kobolds and stuff? I thought they only considered Dragon horses as evil... _________________

Well it wouldn't be a stretch for them to have something against anything that's not human. |

It mightn't be much of a stretch but it's still a stretch. We may as well try and cling to facts when speculating rather than basing speculations on speculations on facts. :P
Maybe he's from Caleria. _________________ One day, I shall come back. Yes, we shall all come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine. |

I agree, but it seems unnecessary to pronounce their hatred for a certain species when it comes down to killing all non-human beings... _________________

New Armes is more Ottoman than anything, especially in regards to clothing. New Armes is much more colorful though. New Armes looks like a flamboyantly gay Ottoman Empire.
Zamza could be from anywhere. His clothing means he could be from New Armes, Nagarea, Caleria, or anywhere else. Nagarea does sound like the safest bet, however, given the options.
So what else is known about Zamza? Aside from his neverending love of himself, I can't think of anything significant. I'm sure if you check out Fu Tan Chen's cooking game quotes and Richmond's files you might find a few tidbits of something. But nothing in regards to his background. _________________
