I think every site needs a Katana thread really. Me and Aurelien were discussing some of the characters in the nation and predicting what will happen, it's very confusing! Anyway, I suppose it's good to have a general thread for updates and such.
I also made a library thread on it if you want to brush up.

Since this is the Katana thread, I might as well ask you here. Excuse me if I sound blunt, but what's your obsession? It's just an NPC nation. =/ _________________

Well, it's not the NPC nation that I generally have the "obsession" with, and I wouldn't say it's an obsession anyway, I just like it. Would my interest be justified if it were not an NPC nations like Falena or Jowston or something? I like Japanese culture, especially the historical aspects. Katana is just the embodiment of that. |

My reason for liking it is pretty much the same as Uji's. The things I say about Katana are just usually exaggeration and are not meant to be taken seriously. My regiment name and my profile are just examples of these.
Oh yeah, and add Tsuru-hime as one of my reasons why I like Katana as well. :P

Well, now Uji won't want to taste our pineapple juice anymore...
I think it is not so different from some people's behaviour and reaction on their own nation, including myself. The Shogunate of Katana is interesting, although it's horrible how many people seem to share a tad bit of the power the nation as whole would possess. Anyway, I am looking forward to see how Katana's reaction about the foreigners will look like when some phases are over from now on. _________________

In some sort of discussion, I must say that it's a pretty cool nation, too. I personally like most of the characters there myself.
Oh, and I will also be marrying Hayashi Ei, and therefore, making me Ujitsuna's brother-in-law. :P _________________

It's the samurai effect, Fly. And we've got like 2 super samurai fanboys in this site. You never know what those two can do once their object of fanboyism comes into existence. :P |

What a way to start eh? The countries not even on the map and they've beaten up a pirate. Good times... |

They have that big chunky armour though, i mena if you want to be fanboys of something from there go for the bald headed Sohei! That way instead of being a simple sword wielding fanboy you'd be a fanboy of the coolest set of bald heads to ever be waxed to reflect the suns rays! :P

Technically the nation was always on the map. ;) And no, not good times, Brandeau was doing the noble thing in helping out his comrades in their time of need and Katana waltz on in and say 'no noble deeds for you today, I want to be vindictive for some reason we don't know about yet.' I mean please, haterisin on the sea playah, I'm taking this up with the Pirate Union! We demand compensation for such outlandish opinions! :P _________________

Brandeau would have received even more of an ass-kicking should he have actually made it to fight Highlands exploration party. He should be thankful he got off so lightly.
Pirates attacking a peaceful Duck King? That's not noble. Anyway Katana seems like an interesting place, Jinkai seems the coolest person there though. _________________

Yeah Katana own this block now, don't you be hatin' them because they are true ballas. The Pirate Union can't do jack without steppin' on a playa's toes, fo shizzle.

Well Tsunayoshi was out sailing by himself, the Highland team had three generals, plus Tsunayoshi let you fight those pirates as it was a fair fight and intervened only when reinforcements were approaching. Thank him, Decado, he is a real man. |

They also have the awesome helmets, too! Don't forget about their awesome headgear! I mean, where else could you find the same helmet as Minetsugu's? You could literally kill someone just by poking him with that kind of headgear.
Not everyone of them has that big chunky armor though, methinks. Kikuchi, for example, doesn't seem to be wearing it, based from what we can see from his tiny avatar. He's just wearing normal Katana citizen's clothes.
Oh, and I'd rather be a simple sword wielding fanboy than to be a fanboy of the coolest set of bald heads to ever be waxed to reflect the sun's rays. I like my hair.

While you may be right in saying that Jinkai is a cool person (everyone in Katana is cool from my point of view), I must disagree with you, Decado. Jinkai is a no-no in my book of coolest people. Instead, the title of the "coolest person" in Katana goes to Minetsugu. The headgear says it all. But he's just second to Tsuru-hime, since by default she is the coolest person, and she can never be replaced. It's biased if she keeps winning the "coolness award" now, isn't it?
....But that's just my opinion, it's not a fact by any means. |

While the Mikado holds the position of "emperor" in the Shogunate of Katana, his power is eclipsed by that of the Shogun. It's only his title that made him somewhat important in the nation, which means he's just a figurehead and so were all the others who held the title of "Mikado" in the past. So all in all, I don't think he would be planning to gain power because he has nothing to "gain" since he only has little to no sort of power in the first place.
I doubt the Shogunate system will change anytime soon, as I don't think the current Shogun, Anekoji Tadakatsu, will step down from power seeing as the chances of the system getting abolished by other means than stepping down himself are very unlikely.
EDIT:

The Mikado is of royal blood, and the royal family holds little power in the nation. So that means he doesn't need to gain the power of royal blood because he already has it (which apparently isn't really "powerful" at all). |
