Let me start off by saying I love the suikoden series, its my favorite videogame series ever.
So I was playing FFXII yesterday and I was just blown away by the opening scene in the game. The production values are just amazing and it grabs your attention right from the start. Then you start to play the game and it still looks amazing and better than most if not all rpgs realesed for that generation of consoles(ps2,xbox,gamecube). All the detail they put into the world really pulls you in.
So I was wondering why Knoami doesnt make the same effort with the suikoden games? I'm not just talking about pretty graphics either, its also stuff like advertising. It seems like Konami doesnt even want to get the series the attention it needs to become a big hit. Instead of taking a chance and making a big budget Suikoden game it seems that we keep getting the game the gets the funds left over in the budget from making the Metal Gear games.
Suikoden 5 was a step in right direction but even that was not very polished. The zoomed out view to hide the lack of detail of the npcs and the loading times between "cut-scenes" just seemed like the needed to cut corners. I'm aware that this is a business and the bottom line is lord of all but if they can do with the suikoden series what square has done with Final Fantasy they woudl be better off in the long run. Now just to be clear I do not want Suikoden to become a FF clone I would just like to see the same resources put into making a high quality Suikoden game. Once again to make sure everyone understands I do not want a FF clone just a better Suikoden and yes I realize I said that twice. _________________ Winne the Pooh>YOU |

Konami: Buy some more copies of our games then, you tight-wadded little gits.
It's a little bit of a catch-22. Konami aren't going to pump money into Suikoden unless fans pump money into it as well and that, really, isn't happening.
Although I did weep softly for Suikoden V's sub-Final Fantasy X level of using voice acting. It never took half a minute of loading for Tidus to say "Hello" and then another half a minute to go back to the regular written conversation and that was almost six years ago now. :P
(It should've stayed sprite-based says I but that's another story) _________________ One day, I shall come back. Yes, we shall all come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine. |

I never thought the loading was that bad at all. I suppose being on such a bad computer teaches one the art of patience. Lets all cut into Take That's number one craptacular single "Patience." |
