Wingers

The Wingers are my favorite race in the Suikoden race. I just realized, though, that unlike the other races like Elves, Dwarves, Lizards, Ducks and Kobolds, we haven't seen any village, town or city that they is specifically theirs. In fact, the only urban setting we've seen them in, Two River, is divided among three races. I was curious as to whether there's been any canon material about where and how they tend to live, and if they get along with the other races in general.

i'd read that originally they had their own place in the hills near tinto, but tinto took it over for mining, running out the wingers, who then relocated to two river.

it may not be fully accurate, however; it's been a long time since i've played sII, but i remember the old woman in chaco's house *his grandmother, i think?* giving some story to that effect.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's how the story went. I suppose that's part of the reason why the humans and kobolds were always so bitter to the wingers. It's sad really, they had no other place to go. I wish there was more information on the race, I also find them highly interesting.

Yeah Genkaku bought a place for them in Two Rivers after their mountain was destroyed with strip mining.

Yes, that's right. And indeed, that is exactly why they're outcasted by humans and kobolds. Because they were originally not from Two River, and also because of their habits, customs and beliefs that are deemed as strange and weird to the humans. Such as their habit of buring the fish bone they've eaten, and the smelly liquid they spray on their wings are probably quite disgusting to humans...

As for other settlements for wingers besides Two River, i suppose we can only wait for Konami to decide to create one somewhere. Hopefully in S5. Then again, wingers are probably a race with very little population. There could be other villages elsewhere, but we can only wait.

Also the reason they were out casts from Two Rivers was because Genkaku's good name and reputation was sullied and destroyed when he was banished from Jowston.

Not that I'm disputing that exactly Milan Fiori, nor is this the thread for it, but I wonder how many people actually felt negativity towards Genkaku at the time of the Dunan Unification Wars. Most people you meet are quite possitive about Genkaku, especially after the truth came out about Darrell's betrayal. In fact, most people had faith in Riou, because he was Genkaku's son, and they believe that he would be as strong and as good natured as Genkaku himself.

Right but people get into that mind set and pass it to thier children who were the ones living there at the time, so even after his reputation was cleared the mindset was there.

True, but I think their minds were made up before Genkaku's banishment. I doubt they were too fond of Wingers anyway, and if they felt negatively towards them when Genkaku was "removed" from Jowston, it would only have added to their prejudice. I would say Genkaku's departure would have effected many who believed in him, I doubt people would used that as a reason to dislike Wingers.

I was waiting for somone to post a winger post. I rerember we had an age ratio of species/races. where was it? The wingers were cloest to humans.

anway, They should tell us more about wingers, for Dwarves and Elves we'll just learn "how they work in the Suikoverse", Kobolds exist outside of Suikoen as well.

but Wingers...they have bat wings and bird feet, overall look human. I don't know if the porno(dirty) mag you can find has anything to do with them cutlrual or behaviorualy...anyone or anything could have them...but do the wingers are they more...compheratable with sexuality compaired to the others?

its funny when they add those to games. FF4 has one(i think) and in Bahmut lagoon there are Porno mags as items (they cast sleep)

Yeah I was actually confused the first time I found that porno mag in the Wingers' place. I actually did a double-take, just had to look a second time to make sure I was undestanding it right, hehe. I don't have any answers to your queries, kuwaizair, but seeing as how it's the only porn found in the suikoverse thus far, I think it might be safe to assume that they are dirty little things... but who am I to judge? Just comparing cultures here. :D

Well, since two of the three Wingers you recruit in the series are prone to little talking and evil laughing, and the third is a serious klepto, I can begin to understand why humans might get frustrated. ;)

hm...so would you blame the behaviors of Wingers on their race or some kind of social (word missing really I don't recall the word i need) constrictions? like we view some people...."oh so-and-so is this or that, so thats why hes poor/a criminal/ppervert and he can't help it" or do the other species/races make wingers look bad?
