The Slash Rune???

I just got this the second time i beat the training at Reinholt's. I equiped it but doesn't seem to do anything....the descrption says" Holds the rune that enables SLASH command"

When you go into battle against weaker opponets the retreat/release command is changed to slash which allows you to instantly defeat the opponent and collect the potch and items. The rune must be attached to one of your characters though.

Provided you don't mind the load times, it makes an even better Rune than the Champion's Rune. As little effort, but you get the potch and experience. Granted, the experience will be near nil, but the potch is nice, especially if you plan ahead and toss in a Prosperity Rune and a potch finder. One of the guides I saw for quick cash was to do just this precisely.

Also, very nicely, the Slash Rune carries over into New Game Plus, while the Champion's Rune does not.

Heh and at level 64 you can slash those nasty Land Shells. Extremely easy money and good items.

At lvl 99 you can slash ANYTHING. That's why I've started calling yonder slash rune the "free money" rune. Especially if you take it to the Obel Ruins boss with a Prosperity Rune and Noah - 78000 just from the boss, and you can slash it.

Nice. And this is the first game where it's "easy" to get to level 99.

Any idea if that boss is slashable earlier than 99? I imagine it might be, but to what degree, I wonder?

You also cannot slash the Angel Hairballs; you can, at best, release them, which leaves the treasure still in the box.

Most boss fights you can't run away from, if you can't run away from them you can't slash them.

Exactly. You COULD slash, say, Cray, at level 75 or so, but, since you can't run away or release him (That'd be strange. "Cray, I have no time for you, get lost!") you wouldn't be able to use Flashes. The best you can do is own him in one round. That gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside. >_>

Yeah, if the game developers let you Slash Cray or the last boss, we'd all get maniacle villain complexes complete with insane laughter "MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA! SLASH THEM ALL, MY SERVANTS OF DARKNESS! MWA!"

...actually, I'm pretty sure the slash rune does that anyways. A truly wonderful rune.

I'm sure they'll incorporate the idea into the next True Rune. The catch? The final boss wields it.
