Battle characters

I've barely recruited any Stars at all, I haven't talked to the Oleb, on Nay yet I'm just exploring the world and making the game clock longer. :D

But I HAVE recruited a tank character worth mentioning: Mitsube. Hoo whee! She's good! She started out at lv 20, I fixed up her weapon to maximum (which currently was 5 for her), put two lightning rune pieces on her sword, put a water rune on her and gave her a little more armor and took her to battle. I'm impressed. Tal, who is my strongest character next to Kenneth, is level 32 and he hits around 160 hp. Mitsube, who barely lv 22, is dealing out 140-150. Her defense ain't shabby for her level either.

What are some really good tank/power characters you guys have discovered?

Mitsuba is one of the best fighter characters, although her speed can knock her down in terms of usability. The friends from Razril will end up being pretty mediocre after you recruit better fighters, such as Millay or Bartholomew. Although Eugene looks like a wimp, he becomes a real tank if you get his level up, as well.

My current kick-anus party is the Hero (who I named Lune), Kika, Lino, and Tal. Not much diversity, but traveling the ocean I need to be able to kill quickly, and I think I have some good fighters. Mitsuba like SARS said is usually last to act every time, which becomes a pain.

Since I recruited them, I've used no one but Kika, Sigurd, and Hervey. Kika for the Falcon rune, Sigurd strangely criticals rather often and can heal, and Hervey is fast, dodges alot, and does more damage than Hero.

I do like to use the ninja though. During the naval strategy battles I make them into a party and board enemy ships. They dodge practically everything.

Kate is my favorite ninja character because she has very god MAG, and is really fast. This means she gets to cast her spell before anyone else. Thsi helped a lot in the training room.

My current party consists of the hero (Shinta), Tal, Jeane and Mitsuba.

I try to have one mage in my party when possible, and Jeane does this job incredibly well. She currently has a Lightning and a Fire rune. Mitsuba is pretty strong already, so I gave her a Killer rune to try and maximize fighting (since I don't use magic if a character is basically unfit to use it). Tal is still in my party because he just looks incredibly cool in battle (ie: Backflips away from the enemy). He has the same setup as Mitsuba.

I haven't really tried out magic based characters because I was scared they'd have terrible defense and absolutely suck. Any tips on what armor I should put on Jeane?

Kika is alright thus far, she's not that strong stat wise, but she's pretty good.

I wish my armor guy would get new armor in. ;_;

I am using right now (probably half way through the game)
Hero (Rune of Punishment)
Kate (Water and Fire Runes)-is it just me or is she the only one out of the three that looks like a real ninja.
Mitsuba-strong and high HP
Sigurd-pretty strong and fast
(I have also used Akagi and Mizuki, but am not right now)

and once I get Wendel I will replace Sigurd with her, and I might switch Mitsuba out for Helga, Gretchen, Ameria, or Selma.

I'm near the end of the game and my main party is:

Hero: Prosperity, Cyclone, Punishment - full pirate king equip
Kika: Double-Strike, Falcon - full ogre equip, so she has fury(insane falcon damge)
Jeane: Charm, Thunder, Rage - full guardian equip
Ted: Slash, Soul Eater, Water - pretty bad equip, anyone have a good Ted setup :) ?

But I also like to switch in Snowe and Maxine every once in awhile, because Maxine has cyclone and rage runes and Snowe has full Hero equip :mrgreen:

You can get one treasure hunting with Rene. That's how I got mine.

I used Hero, Viki, Sigurd and Hervey. Not exactly a whomping party but it worked surprisingly well. Especially since Viki had a Thunder rune (and a Cyclone, but that was merely for the ship battles.) That's a LOT of damage in one little rune. Hero had Mother Earth and Killer, Sigurd had Flowing and Killer, and Hervey had Water and Killer.

Yeah, I like Killer runes.

What does Jeane's charm rune mean by charm the enemy?

I suggest some of you equip the skunk rune, Viki's barely been attacked at all with it equipped.
