don't think I seen a topic on these books anywhere yet, hopefully it doesn't have to go under the V section.
I been trying to get the first book for like 2 month now and finally decided to order it from amazon.co.jp along with a V guide, while I was looking around I found out that the 2nd book was just released on 9/1 so I ordered that as well.
Anyone own these already? are they well drawn and at least interesting to look at since I don't read japanese? if nothing else the art on the cover of the first book looks great, don't see a cover shot of the second book yet since it just came out. By the way, anyone order off amazon.co.jp often? are the exchange rate exactly whatever the current US dollar to Yen exchange rate is? _________________ SAVE A.D. - S.O.B.s

I'd say it's worth it even if you don't know Japanese. The art varies in quality, since there were so many different artists involved with it, but for the most part it's pretty decent. I only have the first, though (I didn't even know there was a second one until I read your post...)

because of its relation to the game, it will be moved to the sV forum; until such time when vector decides that the sV forum no longer serves its purpose, anything and EVERYTHING relating to it, regardless of what it is, goes in the SV FORUM.
are we understanding this? i hope so. _________________ prinny...DOOD!

so by "many different artists" do you mean the different artists involved with the characters designed for the game or is it like a collection of story segments drawn by random different artists?
I wasn't gona ask about the specifics when the topic was in the suikoden section but since it's already moved can you give me an idea of what kind of story was told in it? with no expectation for the storyline to continue after reading the first book, is it not even related to the game? _________________ SAVE A.D. - S.O.B.s

The anthology consists of mostly random, lighthearted stuff drawn by various artists, though there's some serious stories mixed in there (Like one involving Dolph and Oboro & co.). I'm not sure if any of it can be considered canon, but given some of the content I kinda doubt it. There's also a section of four panel joke comics in the back.
I know that there's a color image in it of Lorelai, Killey, and Zweig, which is done by their character designer - but aside from that it doesn't seem that any other SV artists had anything to do with it. _________________ But was surrounded! |

I think my order of the 2 V anthology comics, V guide, and the card stories cardlist book just shipped. sucks that it said I won't get it until 10/3-17 with International Economy shipping, but the price is pretty good even after shipping, $73.15 total I think. the cheapest I'd have to pay on other sites for all those would be over $85 and add more for shipping, I hope there are no other charges for currency exchange or something that I don't know about...
Oh and they just listed the cover image for V anthology comic 2 which wasn't up yet when I ordered

Personally I like that cover a lot more than the first one. And don't be surprised if your package comes in earlier than that. I order from Amazon Japan fairly often, and most economy packages don't take more than a couple weeks to arrive, despite the site saying otherwise. Some economy packages have actually only taken a week to get to me (for reference, I live in Massachusetts). |

wow that's great, since they go from the pacific, I think I'm a bit closer too in texas. are there any sort of additional charges for using a US visa card? and do they pretty much carry most publications when it comes to gensosuikoden? _________________ SAVE A.D. - S.O.B.s

I've heard some banks/credit card companies will charge you a few dollars for currency conversion, but it's not something that's ever happened to me. So you might get charged extra, but who knows. And I don't really collect Suikoden publications in general, so I can't help you there. |

I got my package today, man that was fast, a month before the estimated delivery date. The cover shot of the second book is done by the original artist, I guess it was hand drawn since it doesn't look as sharp as all the game arts but still really good. and on the back of the book it says there is another V Anthology Comic 3 due 9/30, and a book 4 due 11/1, something else is mentioned for 12/1 that I suppose is gensosuikoden related but I don't understand what it says. As long as I wasn't charged a crap load for a exchange/international order fee of some sort, I'd love to order more stuff from amazon.co.jp. _________________ SAVE A.D. - S.O.B.s

Is the middle comic anthology in the second row any different from the others?
They are planning for another one due 2007-02-01:

I actually have bookmarked some of those artists sites.
The third link artist truly has some insanely high quality stuff. _________________ Pizza Hut supports the rebellion!

Those artists are truly talented. It is so unfortunate that their work is only on paper, I guess it is part of their contract with Konami. |

which artist are you talking about? I think overall You Satsuki's arts and comic sections are the best, his/her(I can't find any info on the artist anywhere and on his/her official website under sex it translates to: "It is an imagination street." what???) works in the first 2 books didn't look as good to me when it was mainly just the prince and lyon, cause after all I think those are still best drawn by the original artist. but from the 3rd book on there were way more characters in his/her section, the story in the 3rd book was awsome as Lun, Logg and Subala never looked so good.
I also love Tomomi Mizuna, Ayumi Takato, and Ayumu Hanamichi all of their comics are pretty detailed, never messy and amazingly cute. _________________ SAVE A.D. - S.O.B.s
