Fantasy Hockey Pool [2006/2007]

Well the draft is on Saturday. Looks like a 6 team league unfortunately. But we have to start somewhere. Perhaps next year we'll be able to get more players.

In any case, if we can get 2 more players that would be grand. I'll send reminder PM's out on Friday to everyone.

I've decided to increase the roster size because there are only 6 teams. The thought is to force managers to make decisions on depth and what not.

I can't wait for the season to begin. I've got Locke in the first game. Lonelion, would you be up to trading Brodeur possibly? I didn't get into the draft until 12:05 so I missed my chance to draft him. Same to whoever took Elias (Blas I think) would you be willing to trade him to me?

I like my team but I worry about PIMs. My defencemen are all those fancy goal scoring guys. I missed out on some of the thuggish good ones. It hurt to see Chara, the goon, go. If it comes down to it though, I'll plug in Sean Avery to rack up the points. Every game, he either scores a goal or gets 2 PIMs. Shane Doan should help there. Still, I wanted at least one PIM generator on the backend.

For the Shots stat, I have Kovalchuk... and I swear, in a power play he gets like 15 shots and about half of them land on net.

My goalies I hope are my strength, but who knows how that will turn out. I had Brodeur last year and for the first half of the season I was getting killed and I traded him and a next player for Vokoun. Kipper and Vokoun should be great again this year.

I am so happy with my goalies. Ludkvist is great. Huet just seems to get shutout after shutout. And if Roloson can play like he did till he got hurt last year I'm set in goal. Ovechkin should get me good stats across the board other than Penalty minutes.

I'm not to worried about penaly minutes though...

Sorry Scarlet,but i wanted Brodeur,i was shocked to get the first pick and i didn't hestitate to pick him first,i like my team but i did drop one d-man to waivers and inserted Shea Weber from Nashville,he'll be in my roster tommorrow, i received the confirmation email yesterday.

I like the hard hitting defensemen,if Scott Stevens was still playing and was available i would've tried for him,but he's not oh well.

I have a solid core up front,so i have no complaints,good luck everyone this season,let's hear those famous words "Game on!"

Well, I'm part of the Yahoo fantasy league for another rpg forum site I'm part of. I know I'm not part of the league here, but here's the team I drafted today. I want to know what people think of it and how it rates.

Centers: Joe Thornton and Eric Staal
Wingers: Ales Hemsky, Marek Svatos, Eric Cole, Tomas Holmstrom
Forwards: Patrick Marleau and Vincent Lecavalier
Defensemen: Lubomir Visnovsky, Phillipe Boucher, Wade Redden, Tom Preissing
Goalies: Ryan Miller, Vesa Toskala, Olaf Kolzig
Bench: Jeff Carter, Milan Hejduk, Greg de Vries, Alexei Yashin, Brad Richards, Thomas Vanek

The league is doing head to head each week and these are the stats used to track and calculate.

Offense: Goals, Assists, Power Play Points, +/-, SH%
Goaltending: Goals Against, Goals Allowed Average, Saves, Save Percentage, Shutouts.

Tullaryx I'm still not sure how you got that many good players in a large draft as you said you'd had. I mean to me personally Staal (Eric) and Thornton are obvious first round choices so to get both is a bit of a coup on it's own, I hope the other players can only blame this on not being too knowledgable about hockey or something because otherwise there's not much excuse for skipping over Staal in the first 12 (I think you said it was 12 people for some reason) choices.

I guess I don't like Boucher and De Vries that much in fantasy hockey myself but De Vries is only reserve anyway so that's not too big of a deal, not knowing who's available I could probably find someone that I prefer out there but that's my personal opinion on those two which isn't amazingly high, at least for fantasy hockey anyway, I do like Boucher at least for actual hockey playing purposes if you see what I mean. Mind you he put up decent goals last year in 66 games so maybe he's not bad anyway.
