You missed the entire point. Yes, normal people wouldn't. I think Vextor was getting at the people who do, aren't of the 'norm'.
Quote: |
normal people of that area at least is not going to spend the whole $5 on a game |
So this isn't really valid, because the people spending the 5 dollars on a game, don't fall into the "normal" catagory. _________________ Be awed by our prowess!

yeah but once again, they may have sold a few copies of the chinese version when 95% of the people that bought it got a pirated version and paid konami nothing(that's a great over estimation by the way, I'd be very suprised if 5 out of 100 people there who want the game will pay full price to get it when anyone who would want to play it already play through the japanese version for free on PSone years ago) that will not help the game expand there, and it's not worth their time to do it. _________________ SAVE A.D. - S.O.B.s

That would mean about a 1.5k-3k salary per month at most which is about $200-400 dollars, they don't spend much on housing and tax there cause housing are either provided by the parents or the child just lives with the parents til after marriage or later. after all other expenses, half of the salary is left to be spent on their own so it leaves about $100-200, but if you want anything good to wear or use like brand name clothing or a good cell phone, those cost about the same as here which can drain $200 in a hurry, that's also not counting gas which is the same price world wide since unless either your parents are really successful and can afford 2+ cars or you are very successful(which would mean that person don't care about video games) no one else under 30 can afford their own car.

Having lived in a Chinese territory before I have to say that translating the usual salary there into US dollars is rather pointless. For one, living expenses on that side of the world of course reflects their economy. Then again, I lived in Macau before the casino boom so things would have changed by now drastically--
Anyway, I think fans would rather spend money on games than the usual designer clothes and cellphone thing -- and if they do so, they won't have so much problem. Once housing and other neccessities are out of the way, food is not so much of a problem. I'm pretty sure, considering how close Hong Kong and Macau are (for example) to the mainland that food is cheap in that place -- I mean. As a fan. If food is cheap, then it's not so bad.
Shelling a couple hundred for a PS2 game you know will be great and you want to own isn't so bad. I never understood the reasoning behind that before -- when I was younger, I was rather content with owning pirated copies and didn't get why I should buy a copy of say, Metal Gear Solid for four hundred MOP (Macau currency) but...
Now I understand. There's something to be said about owning the real thing. It's not really to support the thing, I don't think I've ever thought of it that way when I buy legitimate copies, but it's more because... well, you genuinely want to own it! When you buy something legitimate, or something you know is... it gives you a warm and fluffy feeling.
Yes, you are a fan <3 |

I've seen it with my own eyes in a bookstore in Taiwan one summer. (fyi I travel there every summer)
I already have Suikoden 2 however and I was too stupid to think ahead
(like "hey maybe someone here would want it") to actually buy a copy.
A while later they were all gone.
I doubt I'll be able to see it again but I've been keeping my eyes out for it in case a couple of copies pop up again.... _________________

JUUH OOOH SEEEIIIIII!! Deep in your heart ~
Do excuse me. <3
Well, for now, it's not a problem. One of the torrents I scourged the net for seems to be working *eyeing it and impatiently waits for it to hit 100%* I thought it was dead, but I suppose chinese people don't leave their computers downloading/seeding all night
like I do
~ It was on 70% last night...
I hope it works :(
*wants her Suikoden love*
I'm gonna name Riou with some weird Chinese! Yes! <3 |

I hope you have at least Chinese Windows 98 to run it then. At least that is the bare minimum if I recall....
I know for some other Chinese PC games they MUST be installed on Chinese windows as they refuse to work correctly on English Windows.
....then again... I recall I was able to install something on my (english) Windows XP o.o
ehh...not sure anymore...and I had to wipe out the memory on that comp once already so I can't double check... _________________

I think XP allows people to change their Windows' language... at least, that's how I remember it. I remember installing Japanese dating sims on my computer before... *coughs*
I'll see anyway :-D <3 I'll have to clean up my HD first before I even try to install it ^^;;
Imagine ripping/recording scenes from it and then subbing it with the actual English script so you can up those vids at youtube ~ |

That really wouldn't make sense over there to buy games. You're completely right about the Chinese having to bust their ass, cuz its basically a communist government. I guess lately there have been changes, but in order to succeed over there, you have to work for almost entirely your whole life. Americans have it so easy, and I don't know why so many of them complain about everything. I know I'm not complaining, but I do work hard for what I have, even though I'm young. I'm only 18, and now that I have bills to pay if I saw a deal like that anywhere I'd pretty much jump on it. Unless it was Suikoden. I hate having games that I love pre-played. There's too much risk involved with the chance of it being scratched, or something else being wrong with it. |

SO the icon art was different was it? I have to admit that I'm pretty curious about that. Anyone know of any place that has those images hosted? I always did like the work for Suikoden 2 fairly well. _________________

It did? Hey hey, Puu! I wanna see some of this artwork now. Actual art would be nice, but icon images are fine. The screenshot you posted doesn't seem to be there anymore. _________________
