With the recent release of another next gen console, ps3, and something entirely new altogether, Wii, I figured it would be cool to make a long comprehensive list of all the noteworthy games coming out for all 3 consoles. A sort of preview, what you will, for the upcoming new generation of games. If I forgot some please correct me.

Xbox 360

Operation Darkness (x360)

Quote:
Operation Darkness is a Strategy+RPG. The most attractive point is its original universe which is various fictitious factors is added in historical facts. All game users will experience the true spec of Xbox 360 by seeing the amazing quality of graphics in Operation Darkness. In addition, this game supports Xbox Live and high definition TV.

While it hasn't had much exposure outside of Japan, the 2003 Culdcept title for the PlayStation 2 is a cult classic.

Misc. games

Shin Megami Tensei wii (?)
Shin Megami Tensei 360 (?)
Shin Megami Tensei ps3 (?)
Ninja Gaiden 2 (x360)
New Doublefine game
New Team ICO game
New Makai game (x360)
Suikoden VI (wii?)

Now, personally speaking, 360 is my main system of choice for next gen. 2007 is going to be a big year with titles such as Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, Alan Wake, Bioshock...not to mention I get to have GTAIV for 200-300 dollars cheaper! I'm saving up for a 360 right now. I already have a Wii - got one at launch and I love it, but it's line up just doesn't have as much punch as 360's yet.

Ps3, right now, to me is a lost cause. Final Fantasy XIII does not interest me one bit, and I'm actually considering FFXII being the last Final Fantasy I buy, and considering how disappointing that game was despite how long they worked on it, it seems like a good choice to me. FF doesn't work with me any more, I'm no longer apart of the audience it caters to. Aside from that, MGS4, DMC4, and White Knight Story are the ONLY games that interest me on the system. For a 500-600 game system it better have a damn good line up, and ps3 just doesn't have much justification in purchasing one at the moment.

Super Mario Smash Bros Brawl is coming out sometime in the spring...or are you trying to list games out already........

The 360 has been out in the market for a long time already....it's a given it already has more games/larger lineup than the other two...

Megami Tensei Wii was just one of Kaneko's fantasies to go back to oldschool with the Wiimote, nothing more. It was only mentioned once in an interview. I've never heard of Megami Tensei 360, and why would R&D #1 try to make another MegaTen game for the XBox after the big success of Shin Megami Tensei NINE? The "PS3" Shin Megami Tensei isn't even confirmed so I don't know why GameFAQs even made a forum for it.

So far, next-gen MegaTen titles are out of the question. We haven't even gotten all of them for the PS2(Persona 3 Appendix Disc and said game in North America).

At the moment the 360 is my choice for nextgen gaming. In terms of rpgs it's library of upcoming rpgs span the many different styles. Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata and Mass Effect alone have been on my pre-order list at Gamestop for the last six months. Games are now being released multi-platform, or at least announced as not being exclusive anymore. OF the exclusive titles between the 360 and the Ps3, the exclusive ones for the 360 seem to have more going for them than the PS3's: Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, BioShock, Dead Rising, Gears of War, and Halo 3 just for starters.

There will always be games that will only be playable on the Ps3 only and I shall buy the console for that, but the list of upcoming titles for the PS3 coming out this year of 2007 doesn't interest me enough to plunk down 600 dollars for the system. This is coming from a guy who has bought and owned close to almost every console systems released since the Atari 2600, Intellivision and Colecovision days. Also, money has never been a problem for me. Those who know my weird obsession with owning legit dvds can attest to this.

I'll probably get a PS3 the moment Suikoden VI gets a release date. Even on the MMORPG side of things I like the one game coming out for the 360 sometime late this year or early next year: Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. This MMORPG will be the first true MA-rated MMO due to its adherence to the original Robert E. Howard Conan stories. And tha's not the only MMO that might make the jump from PC to 360 (this one may also be given a PS3 release). I am talking about the MMO to end all MMORPGs: Warhammer: Age of Reckoning or just the plain old WAR for those in the know.

Tullaryx, Mass Effect is enough to get me to buy a 360. I have decided a long time ago I'm going to get a 360 by the time Mass Effect is out. Also, Bioshock looks absolutely killer. Add Lost Odyssey, Earth Defense Force X, and Blue Dragon to the mix, and you have one awesome line up of awesome, and best of all..variety! Yes, the best mixture between Japanese and Western gaming!

1. There's a reason I put question marks next to them. Kaneko and co. have stresses that they like all three systems, so we know there will be a next Megaten, it's just a matter of what system they decide to develop for and when.

2. SMT Nine was released under different conditions. Right now, 360 has the most rpg support and that includes Japanese rpgs.

3. Despite being a fantasy dream by Kaneko, Wii for Megaten seems like the best variable. ATLUS ain't Square Enix, hell, they're not even Namco. They're a niche player that doesn't put that much into the production values for their games, so they wouldn't exactly stand out on the 360 or ps3. With the Wii, they can still use ps2 like production values and make a killing, all the while implementing new ways to play Megaten. I'm rooting for Megaten appearing on Wii and I hope they return with a cyber punk atmosphere and setting similar to their early SMT outings.

That really doesn't mean anything to me. That still gave ps3 and Wii a year to get a good line up together. Still, wii60 ftw!

ign seems to be very lenient in their use of the word "epic."

Despite how much I hate the things Microsoft has done, I may wind up needing to get a 360 after all. Considering the direction FF is going, I'm quite willing to abandon the series and follow the mastermind behind it. It still won't be the same without Nobuo Uematsu though.

But indeed, 360 has been out a year longer, so it's unfair to compare game libraries. The 360 had a year before their release to get a solid lineup together as well.

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon have music done by Uematsu. And I completely agree. Apart of my reason for wanting a 360 is for Sakaguchi games. Maybe it's just me, but FF has gone down the toilet since he left and they've lost their vision, their scope. It's definitely not the FF I grew to love.

I know that line ups are initially weak upon release, but with 360, I knew of most of these titles a year ago around the time it came out. Wii has quite a few titles I'm looking forward to, but ps3 doesn't have that many right now. I just think that Sony should go ahead and try to get people excited for their console. You're not going to excite me if the only thing you have on your roster are a bunch of rehashes and sequals, so they should have put more emphasis on their future line up.

Nobuo Uematsu will not be missing from Blue Dragon since he composed and directed the soundtrack for that Mistwalker game. He's also rumored to be the front-runner to do the same for the Lost Odyssey and Cry-On soundtracks. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that he'll be confirmed as the music composer and director for those two games since both are also being developed and published by Mistwalker Studios.

gameranking already have blue dragon at an average of about 85% or so after around 5 reviews, but to me those import reviews sites always have japanese rpgs a little bit overrated, I'm guessing it's more like a 8.0 grade type game so it's nothing amazing.

And is it just me or do the first few 360 and PS3 rpgs listed here that I never heard of until just now all looks pretty crappy? I thought a game like enchanted arms on 360 looks acceptable for next gen but only okay, while those games here looks rougher with less detailed characters.

I also totally didn't get what was so great about dead rising, the save system sucks and the time system in the game doesn't work all that great... getting lost planet tomorrow from blockbusters to check it out and hopefully crank out some achivement points, also hoping mass effect is more story driven like kotor rather than more action like jade empire or deus ex.

Games don't have to be AAA quality to be enjoyable. I think BD looks fun so I don't mind.

Yep, to me all the next gen rpgs look excellent, so I don't see the problem! Culdcept Saga and Operation Darkness could use a face lift, but all games aren't graphic power houses, are they? :D Watch The White Knight Story video I linked, I'm sure you'll be amazed. Also, Eternal Sonata looks amazing in terms of graphics and art direction, so does Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.

The save system isn't that bad at all. You just have to strategize when to save, and it's just a basic strategy at best. Whenever you get a new story mission, simply save, do the mission, and you have plenty of time to horde off zombies with lawn mowers, katanas, and hedge cutters. The time limit thing because a non issue, because you can unlock a mode that gives you unlimited time.

Wasn't Final Fantasy XII considered AAA title. And I've seen more and more people temper their initial joy about the game with just how mediocre it really is when seen as a whole. I have faith in the Mistwalker games in that I trust its creators more than I do with the current people making rpgs at other studios. The say the same about BioWare. Their games has never been the major graphic powerhouses but they've been the most enjoyable.

As for Dead Rising, the save system I thought was a cruel but a very nice touch. No cheating by making mutiple saves everytime a new scoop was available. YOu actually had to make a conscious decision on who to save and who not to due to time constraints. Sort of like real life stress situations. I really see people's pointing out the save system as a major flaw as a cop out. I remember when games didn't allow a player to have more than one save. I don't mind people criticizing the game's graphics at times or even the AI's lack of brains when following you. Those couldve made some more work but I thought the save system worked for the type of stress the game was suppose to give. It is a horror game with comedic themes.
