Call me a noob or an idiot or whatever after reading this and I'm sorry if this question has been posted before. (tried searching, couldn't find it)
Anyway, I'm one of the ones that had to play Suikoden retardo-order (3, 4, 2, 1, then 5, ) And, I kinda noticed something. Yanno how in all the games Laknaat shows up and goes "starts of destiny, you have to gather, blazay, blah, blah"? She did it in 1, 2, 4, and 5.
But, she doesn't doesn't do it in 3. Is it stated why she doesn't do her "rountine" in the 3? Or was it because she was so worried about Luc's running off, she just didn't give a flip?
Or maybe I missed it and don't remember?
Help me? _________________ "...." - Any silent Hero

Pretty much what you said. Leknaat tried to do her bit before Suikoden III began, really, failed and so sat the rest of the game out. _________________ One day, I shall come back. I think the main reason for Leknaat's non-existent role in Suikoden III is because of Luc. He's the main villain in Suikoden III, and I can't blame Leknaat for not wanting her beloved student to suffer. She still loves him, even though he rebelled against her. Leknaat forgiving Luc's soul at the end of Suikoden III is a proof that Leknaat still loves Luc. |

Also Suikoden III was trying to break out of the mold and not be repetitious. . . of course few people liked that and so it was back to the mold in IV and V for her. _________________

Yeah I agree with Ryusei, I think the main reason for her not showing up in Suikoden 3 is Luc. He still is her student, and I think she knew what he was gonna do before he even started his plan. But this time she didn't do anything, she just let things go the way they did. _________________

I have a weird theory.
I do agree with the Luc reason, but I think there's a gameplay reason involved.
Normally, Leknaat would show up and say 'go round up 108 stars of destiny'. In Suikoden III, there are four stars occupied by characters that... well, you won't be able to recruit. How would Leknaat explain this phenomena that the table of stars would involve four characters that was never a part of your coalition. The writers could've just thrown away the idea of giving Leknaat her usual role, AND used the Luc reason along with it.
Wait, I've just realized Leknaat rarely explains anything... _________________

Leknaat should come wake up Thomas and do it really. :P But you raise a good point uwangski, theres four people who do the recruiting and only until later in the game becomes the character you control permanently. |

Can't Leknaat show up in front of all 4 characters? She can do that right? |

I rather think Leknaat didn't have to show because she foresaw the happenings of Suikoden 3....
While in the other games she had to interfere to either make sure people got the True Rune or make sure there wasn't a chance that they'd wanted to give it up/miss it....
It just seemed to me that none of the characters in Suikoden 3 ever reached that point mentally...to me at least....
Also perhaps she knew that letting Luc run around would only speed this "preferred destiny" (so to speak) up _________________

Leknaat did show up in Suikoden V. She actually showed up in all the Suikoden games save Tactics if I recall correctly though she wasn't as active in the war at hand and the Stars of Destiny in Suikoden III. |

She stayed in the tower in Suikoden III but then again she usually only projects her image from there anyway.
Her absence in Suikoden III was probably for personal reason, she did spend man years teaching Luc, i doubt she would want to help in his downfall when she probably saw what was going to happen anyway.
Either that or she secretly hoped that he would succeed, but that's just me and my crzy theory about Leknaat being secretly evil. |
