What exactly are you trying to ask? What other games Suikoden should be like? |

In my opinion, a Suikoden game would be perfect if it is like the following:
1. Must have 108 Stars of Destiny.
2. Probably must have Leknaat in it as the keeper of the balance (whatever that means).
3. It shouldn't be about saving the world from the villain who for whatever reason wants to destroy the world.
4. It shouldn't be about saving a princess who was abducted by the villain either.
5. Must have the "grey area" instead of blatant black or white area when it comes to good and evil.
6. Must have variety in characters (humans and non-humans).
7. Must have a headquarter.
8. Must have at least one true rune in the game.
9. Must have humor here and there, but not too humorous.
10. Will have forced characters once in a while.
11. Include major battle.
12. Must have some mini-games.
13. Expect a good plot twist during the game.
14. Bonus stuff by recruiting 108 SoDs.
15. Must have a bath house in the headquarter.
16. Not badass looking character turning out to be great in normal fights.
17. Must have a few strategists involved in the storyline.
18. Must have the stone tablet thingy.
19. Must have Viki!!! Otherwise I have to walk all the time -___-;;
20. Expect to see military units involved.
21. Related somehow (preferably not too related) to the other Suikoden games.
22. Non-SoDs to recruit.
23. Must have one on one duel.
24. Somehow related to water.
25. Will involve small defeating the big.
26. Must have unite attacks.
27. Great music.
Yeah I know, only 27 reasons, was aiming for 108, but cannot think of more X_X
EDIT: Lebenengel, I think he meant it like in the title of the topic. What a Suikoden game should be like according to us. _________________

Well, he seemed to use "alike" rather deliberately, so I had to ask. If it is about that, then I want to see interesting bonuses for not collecting the 108 Stars. I never miss characters now, so there oughtta be something cool that's worth sacrificing the good ending for.
For example, in Arc the Lad III, there's a job that allows you to recruit a hidden character by fulfilling certain prerequisites beforehand. However, if you recruit that character, you're forced to fail the job and can no longer get a perfect score in hunter merits. |

Bugg, you were going for 108, but you did 27...ahhh, another Suikoden number right there! _________________

28. Must critically be compared to Suikoden II and thus getting the blame for being different. |

What? You mean I actually have to do that? All along I just thought it was a a friendly jab at the Final Fantasy fans and the comparisons of new games to Final Fantasy VI.
29. The characters must connect with you on some level, so you actually care about their struggle and what their ultimate fate is. _________________

Bugg: I think you just described Suikoden 2...:P
I agree with most of what he said, though I could do without the stupid forced characters. The convoy system helped a lot there. I`d also like more than one new True Rune...at least 4 news ones would be nice. _________________

Aren't there only 27 True Runes? If multiple True Runes (approx. 4, for example) were introduced in each game, they would run out by Suikoden VII. With the uncertainty over subsequent Suikoden games, it may be wishful thinking that the series will reach to seven and beyond, but should the series continue well past Suikoden IV, there will need to be True Runes for each of the subsequent games. _________________

Intentional indeed. =)

Hee hee, but that wasn't intentional though. I just thought that the list that I made would make a Suikoden game to be good. Not necessarily must be done like in Suikoden 2. _________________

I'm looking for the emotional ties to the characters. I have so many favorite characters from the Suikoden world itself that it's ridiculous.
Although I loved Suikoden III I'd hope they turn the game away from the ultimate repeat of every RPG of saving the world until maybe the grand finale of the series or some crap like that. Suikoden had its share and should go back to warfare... on other nations - not "evil." ^^; _________________

That's not to say Suikoden II wasn't a great game, though it could have been even better had the localization team fixed the translation errors and the Annallee glitch in South Window. (which at least the NTSC English version had)
30. Must have a group of animals to recruit, which join your party at random providing you have an open spot in your party for them to sneak into.
31. Must have a Stone Tablet with the names and stats of all of the Stars of Destiny recruited, and must be located within or near your headquarters.
32. Must include a close friend betraying the hero/switching sides at some point. _________________

#31 - Yeah, I'd have to agree that that was an annoying revelation in Suikoden III when I found out where the stone tablet was. ^^; I didn't like going back and forth by that point in the game so...
#32 - You're going against Suikoden III or am I rusty already? =P _________________

Well what I did mean was like what a perfect Suikoden games should be. I'm sorry to confuse you all. Btw I'm a she not he (why everyone thought that I'm a boy anyway?)
#33 - Must have great strategist in our and enemy side (that would be cool). |
