I also enjoy the .hack//SIGN series and also collect both the anime and manga for the .hack//Legend of the Twilight. Other animes which I particularly enjoy include:
Arc the Lad - action (both the anime and the game)
Crest of the Stars - action (I'm waiting for the Banner of the Stars and Banner of the Stars II DVD Complete Collections to be released.)
Outlaw Star - action, humour
Inu-Yasha - action, humour (though I haven't seen too much of it lately)
Alseid, I've seen most of the Escaflowne TV series but I haven't seen the movie. Though I have heard that the movie is somewhat of a retelling of the series with some changes. _________________

It is...in a way. But there are few things in common from the storyline of the series and the movie, like.....
SPOILER ALERT!!
Folken being the main badguy, Millerna being a Mercenary, Allen taking a really secondary role, Hitomi being, apparently, a goddes, Guymelefs being nowhere to be seen, aside from Escaflowne and Alseides(heh)...
The way i see it, it is somewhat of an alternate timeline. Hitomi goes depressive and gives up athletism, thus never has the visions that trigger her trip to Gaia. So, when she finally does get there, she's on a whole different Gaia, in where, for example, there's no Zaibach, only a big army called the Black Dragons, that have already destroyed just about all the nations we saw in the series. That alone could tell you how different the world in the movie is.
SPOILER ALERT OFF
So, watch it if you can, the art style is kind of strange if you're used to the serie's (which, in turn, is also strange if you're used to normal anime style), but the story is interesting, and shows a whole new side of all the chars. Also, the music, oh god damnit, such great music. On par with the serie's, or even better sometimes. _________________

The best one I can give you is :
1. Zeta Gundam = even though it's old, I guarantee the quality of it.
2. Chobits = well, what can I say? It's full of men's humors but it's really sweet
3. Gundam 0080 = by far one of the saddest ending I've ever seen.
4. Little Women (1987 production) = the best of the World Masterpiece Theatre.
5. Kiki's delivery service = Another great anime by Ghibli Studio
Mmmm, I'm glad there's another Laputa (castle in the sky) fans. I really love the anime (you can see it from my avatar). In my oppinion, the anime studio Ghibli made are my favorite  _________________

I like InuYasha the best, but I also like Dash!, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Dirty Pair Flash.
I only wish they'd make an anime series based on Suikoden next... :? _________________

There is a Suikoden anime. But is entirely unrelated to the game.
Anyway, since you ask for a little preview...
Escaflowne - TV Series - A japanese schoolgirl with some psychic powers (visions of the future, can read Tarot cards...) somehow travels to a world called Gaia where the moon and the earth can be seen in the sky. Gaia is a kind of medieval place, but with great technological feats, such as flying fortresses and giant mecha-like armors. She seems to be a crucial element to end the war that is consuming Gaia.
Escaflowne -Movie - A japanese schoolgirl, somewhat apathetic and depressive, has a strange vision in which a man in a robe calls upon her, and then darkness engulfs her and takes to a world with the moon and the earth in the sky. She wakes up inside a giant armor, which is said to be the god of war. From then on, the two enemy sides fight to gain control over her and the armor, because they can bring victory to whichever side has them.
Not quite as short reviews, but i can't sum up the basic story any shorter than that. _________________

i somwhat stoped but I was collecting the DVDs to X. unfortinaty some moron thinks its cute to put 3 episodes onto one Disk and charge me 30 dollars.
its antics like this that make peole go and download stuff, download bootleg.
I hate the spellings, but the name know only -as- "Orphen" in the states is pretty good, I mentiond it before.
i saw on the previews of "vampire hunter D bloolust" that Pet shop of Horrors has an animated counterpart. very strange manga. _________________ few runes short of a set of 27

Blue Seed is an excellant series in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if not many of you have heard about it, but it is an excellant series with action-packed moments, plenty of humor, and maybe even a little romance. _________________

I'm not much into anime, but recently I got really hooked to Berserk. The anime is 25 episodes, and I really can't describe it. Has an epic war, realistic human drama, action, and at the end it is horror and gore.
Unlike many animes, the characters are actually real humans. There's no uber-powerful fighters that use spells or flashy techniques, and you actually see some real strategy in the battles. The unrealistic part would be Guts and his 100 men slaughtering and well... the demons. |
