Well, Baten Kaitos 2 ended up in 15th place, or something like that, when it debuted same week as Suikoden so I'm pretty happy 'bout the sales anyway. |

Yep. 2nd Place first week, and 11th on the 2nd week. That's pretty bad even when compared to Suikoden 4. Sales havn't broken the 200000 unit mark yet, which all Suikodends since Suikoden 1 has broken. |
Owch.
You gotta love it when a series that's trying so hard to redeem itself gets such a cold reception.. |

Ouch...That's not good at ALL to read. But it does seem to be going up against some very tough competition. I mean, didn't XII just come out in Japan? I know FF isn't huge over there, but I assume it's well hyped up. Oh well I guess...I'm sure that sales will pick up. They have to.. _________________

I don't follow the Japanese charts but... what's the odds on a game making some sort of resurgance due to word of mouth and other various recommendations of quality after a few weeks/a month over there?
I think it'll scrape past the 200k mark but I'm not sure if this is the legacy of Suikoden IV coming back to haunt Konami. How did Rhapsodia do? _________________ One day, I shall come back. Well..haven't plenty of games Managed to do that in the states? I'm fairly sure that's a bit part of what made Disgaea such a hit. hell, that's how I heard of the first suikoden. I myself don't have any sort of idea what the odds are. But I'm just going to hope that they're good!
I'm sure it'll manage 200,000 as well...Here's hoping it does better here though... _________________

By then, 2nd hand copies will have flooded the market, and interested folks will likely go for those. The 2nd hand market is really huge in Japan. |

Thanks for the tremendous, spoiler-free, low-carb review, Sars! (Yeah, as if people around here didn't need more fuel for the fire, eh? Haha..)
The most interesting part to me was when you described how the hero's personality would change depending on the kinds of choices you make throughout the game. Now THAT'S taking the ancient, silent-hero archetype perfected by Mario in "Super Mario RPG" to the next level! That alone should give me enough reason to want to play this game multiple times. _________________ ~~Harmonian Tenhei Star~~

I'll buy 200 000 copies myself based on that review.
I'm euphoric, thanks a mil for the review, Sars. I'm really excited now! Jesus, I'm almost drooling! Thinking that V will right the wrongs of IV... that it could be a return to II and III... Oh man... WHY oh WHY does this game AND Kingdom Hearts II have to come out in exam period? I'm gonna fail school ;_; _________________

That is a great review, and greatly appreciated Sars. I had already pre-ordered, but confirmation of what I thought to be true, has abated any doubt I might have had. Again, thanks. |

Thank you for the review SARS. I'm glad to know that the plot and gameplay are top-notch. Kind of worried about the techincal things though. Do they really detract from the game? |

After reading your review Sars, I really don't think that I will be able to wait the three days that are left until the launch of Suikoden V. It sounds amazing. I can't wait to get that wonderful feeling that I always get playing Suikoden.
I don't really have all that much time to play it though. I leave on March 22 to go to Chicago for some choir thing and do not get back until March 25. I do not know what I will do. I suppose I could always take it with me but that would be entirely too much work. I guess that I will have a few days to reflect on how it was and speculate on possible future events. |

I really find it funny how people continue to give FFXII a 10/10, and yet it apparently has very similar loading problems that Suikoden V has. Guess people are too biased to care :|.
Anyways, Sars, you should really start posting this review places. I would suggest you post it at GameFAQs, and submit it to places like IGN, RPGfan, or RPGamer. Well, I guess you should wait until you're ready to give a numerical score, unless you'd want to go with that 9.5 you hinted at before. _________________

Well, it's good to know that the "Suikoden feel" has been regained. This review impressed me quite thoroughly. Now, I can't wait to get the game myself. _________________
