Anyone play this game? It's great, I love it!
Its very old school I know, the reason I ask is because I am wondering if anyone has any suikoden Maps or scenerio games on it? Thanks.....
EDIT: If you do play, give your screen name! _________________

This is slightly off topic, but can someone please explain to me the differences between Starcraft and Warcraft? Besides the fact that it's, you know, in space. :D |

...Well....StarCraft is a completely different game, set in a different universe, in the distant future, as a conflict between Terrans, and two alien species, the Protoss and the Zerg. WarCraft and WarCraft 2 were a conflict between the human civilizations of Azeroth and Lordaeron and the brutal demon-worshipping Orcish Horde who came from another dimension of existence. WarCraft 3 is about the attack of the demons themselves, and their vassals, after the Orcs were beaten decisively in WarCraft 2.
In other words, apart from being the same genre, Real-Time Strategy, and being developed by Blizzard Entertainment (and thus both using Blizzard's game engine) the two game series have absolutely nothing to do with one another. I hope that clears things up a bit.
As for StarCraft itself, it used to be my favourite game, til WarCraft 3 came along. I would play it endlessly. I almost failed chemistry back in high school due to incessant play of StarCraft. :X Oops. Never seen a Suikoden scenario for it...if there is one, you would want to search some of the larger map archives, assuming they're still open, like starcraft.org. I don't know that anyone would have made a 'good' scenario for StarCraft though, all of the people who were actually good at designing maps made things that were somewhat 'mainstream'. _________________

Actually, I was wondering about the gameplay, not the storyline. |

I can't answer that since I've not played a warcraft game in years, starcraft is an absolute classic though, I loved this game back in the day and it's a testament to it's quality that, what something like 7(?) odd years after it's release people are still so into it.
I've not heard of a suikoden scenario map and to be honest I doubt one's existence but what do I know about it. It would be a gem if there really was one and it was actually well done. _________________

the building dynamics are basically the same in that theres resources for mining and a food cap, production buildings housing various specialist units and upgrades.
Squad sizes and mapping + skirmishes are played about basically the same in that its inherent on having a force, microing where neccessary and going on to destroy the enemy base/units.
Ultimately theres very little difference in the actual gameplay besides the as you noted medievil to space difference.
And likewise ive never heard of a suikoden themed map, that would be more in warcrafts field i would feel. |

I was going to say pretty much what fLy said. There's one more thing to note about the Starcraft and Warcraft games. They pretty much evolved on each other. Starcraft had the basis of the Warcraft II gameplay, and added new things to it, mainly adding speacial features for each race e.g. faster building speed with additional Terran SCVs on a building; Zerg building can only be built on Zerg slime, and so forth. And Warcraft III evolved with those kind of features as well. Plus, they had the Heroes, that wasn't in Starcraft. There's rumour of a new race added in a new Starcraft sequel. Suppose to be something like a mix of Zerg and Protoss...something like it. _________________ Guardian of Greenhill & Devoted Protector of Oulan

Yeah...the hybrid creatures manufactured during the storyline of StarCraft: Brood Wars. It wouldn't be too out of place, considering that WarCraft III has a fourth race, improving over StarCraft's three, which improves over WarCraft and WarCraft II and their two races.
As far as gameplay though, I would say there's a significant difference between StarCraft and WarCraft III. WarCraft, as noted previously, has a fourth race and heroes, neither of which were in StarCraft...but there are a lot of serious differences in the game's emphasis. StarCraft emphasizes large numbers of general-purpose units OR powerful air units, which means that the game is heavy macromanagement based. The more basic units or powerful air units that you can afford to build, the faster you can produce them, and the more intelligently that you can deploy them, the more likely you are to win.
StarCraft has a few "spells" which require you to actively target and cast, but on the whole, most of those are rendered rather superfluous in the face of a hundred combat units. WarCraft III, on the other hand, emphasizes smaller groups of much more powerful units, and units that are specifically better against other unit types. It also emphasizes micromanagement a lot more than StarCraft, with a LOT more spells and abilities, even on some of the more basic units - and also the heroes. Having played both games a great deal, I can honestly say that a well-managed hero is the difference between victory and defeat in many WarCraft III games. Games that are simply a brawl between masses of regular combat units do exist, but not like in StarCraft.
That's just my two cents though. And yeah...sorry for going off on a big rambly rant about storyline that you didn't want to hear. :D _________________

What I really nedd now is a StarCraft II where there would be a conclusion, or at least a continuation, of the exiled Protoss, Raynor's army of rogues and Kerrigan's fate.
But alas, all I have to look forward to right now is an unrelated story altogether in StarCraft: Ghost which, though it look cool and promising, took forever to be released. _________________

I really want StarCraft: Ghost to come out. But they're not even talking about a StarCraft II yet, it's not even in the long range-plans. Diablo III will come out first, unfortunately. _________________

Well, since I am also a fan of Diablo, I do not know whether I have to be happy or sad because they skip StarCraft II to create Diablo III... _________________

Heh, I asked because I saw the title "Suikoden Water Margin" on the playing list. I was to late to get in. Actually awhile back, i was working on making a StarCraft scenerio, where you can recruit stars and stuff.
I'm Georg_Prime on the game if anyone cares. _________________
