[Phase 5] Falena vs. Harmonia at Haagru [Concluded]

As the large transport ships of Falena floated in the waters, the forces of the Queendom arrived in the region of Haagru via smaller craft.

Stepping onto dry land, the leader of the invading forces, the mercenary general Jeremy, called out to the Harmonian forces which had been mustered to defend the vital naval port from foreign aggression.

"Is there any in Harmonia who can say their magic is as powerful as mine? If so, let him face me now in a duel on this plain!"

Murmuring was heard from the Harmonian ranks, but no reply ever came...

Seeing the denial as a sign of cowardice, 4100 Harmonian soldiers abandon their regiment!

The Harmonian forces pressed forward, sending Dynast's legion into direct conflict with Jeremy's feared regiment, the Anla'Shok. Dynast's 10,800 officers charged forward, quickly crossing the field of battle, the shock and suddeness of the attack caused the Anla'Shok to suffer some early casualties amongst their 88,527 soldiers, but the sheer prowess of the famed mercenary unit allowed them to turn the tide of battle, decimating Dynast's magician corps down to the last man. Dynast managed to escape the melee on horseback, saving his own life and reporting the awesome power of Jeremy and his officers of whom only 5,400 could be slain.

Meanwhile, in the makeshift Falenan camp port-side, Falenan strategists, hearing of their good fortune against the magical forces of Dynast, quickly ordered the infantry commander, Mist, to lead her men, 16,322 strong, into the Harmonian lines, hoping to break their resolve in a single thrust. As the infantry unit charged forward swords at the ready however, the enemy parted to reveal a Harmonian cavalry unit of 13,500 officers with lances pointed dead ahead. The army of Ranadiel quickly gave the order to engage the Falenan infantry which could not hope to stand against the numbers and strength of Ranadiel's unit. In all, 13,500 Falenans were cut down by the powerful lances of the Squirell Mob who, by virtue of their strength and the surprise of their attack, suffered not even a single casualty.

Harmonian morale rose at the sight of such a descisive victory on the field of battle but the Queendom had put far too much into this campaign to retreat on the basis of one defeat. Spotting a potential flaw in the Harmonian lines, the Falenan archer unit under Nihilive, 15,967 strong, quickly circled the right flank of the Harmonian line, catching the magician unit commanded by Lahti of the Flame off guard. Scores of arrows rained down on the Harmonian unit as Lahti of the Flame tried to rally the 12,600 officers to countering with their magic. Unfortunately for the officers of Harmonia, however, the arrows had already felled too many magicians. Their magic ineffective in small numbers, the unit broke, unable to strike down a single archer, and fled but were shot down to a man by the keen eye of the archer unit.

At the sight of the decimation of the magician unit, the Harmonian line could no longer affoard to stand its guard. Slowly the order to fall back and regroup took hold amongst the army as the Falenan troops continued to progress into Haagru.

In a military base within Haagru, news of the defeat filtered through. A lone officer took the news in without saying a word before muttering but a single sentence.

"All is not lost yet."

Falenan soldiers continued to land on the shores of Haagru before joining the main invasion force as they marched on the main military fortress of the region. If it were to fall...

"Nonsense." the Harmonian commander thought "Harmonia doesn't fall back. Harmonia does not suffer defeat."

But did he really believe his words as news of Falena's attack force arriving near the fort filtered through? Suddenly, a shining light of hope appeared.

Ranadiel's Squirrel Mob and his 15,000 cavalry trops, who had herocially tried to defend the Haagru region when Falena first landed, was charging from behind into the Falenan ranks. Could this brave commander split Falenan ranks in two? Quickly thinking, the Falenan strategists order the Reclaimer Regiment of Traz and his 21,809 archers to fire at the brave Harmonian unit. As the arrows rain down, Ranadiel tries to order his men to strike down the archer but as their casualties mount, reaching 10,905, he is forced to abandon the attack and flee the battlefield with his men and his life. The Falenan march resumes as Traz and his men take note of the 7,500 Falenan archers who perished in the skirmish.

The fort was surrounded now by Harmonia archers. 12,000 of them in all under the command of Dark Viktor in an attempt to repel their attacks from a distance, hoping to shoot down each Falenan invader as they came into view.

However, Edge Riou's Eternal Flame Regiment numbered 26,916 in terms of cavalry when they charged. Their numbers and speed too much for Dark Viktor's archery unit to strike down effectivly. Although 6,000 Falenan troops were cut down by the hail of arrows, in the end not a single Harmonian archer remained on the field.

Their forces in tatters and their fortress surrounded, the remaining men at Haagru surrendered in dismay. Of course, their faith in Holy Harmonia did not waver. This was but a temporary occupation.

They hoped.

Falena wins this turn and takes the region of Haagru!
