In this thread I'll be providing brief summaries of each post for those of you without the time/patience (when we're over 100 posts you'll know what I mean) to read it all. This should be updated routinely. This is very basic - major names, events, facts, etc - but should be enough to get you caught up if you're behind and need to know what's going on, or want a quick refresher. Greater attention will be given to introductions and those posts intrinsic to the main plot. You should still read the very basic backstory synopsis to understand the general setting. Authors, if you have any issues whatsoever with how I summarized your posts, no matter how seemingly petty, let me know and I will correct them without a hassle.
Note that SPOILER CITY follows:

A question of time:
In-story, Chapter 10 took place during 2012 and Chapter 11 during 2014, with approximately 1 year displacing the two. As of now (post 31) Chapter 11 has taken place entirely in the southern hemisphere. For the timeline to fit, and because it seems fitting that the God of Fight tournament should take place in the summer in Johannesburg, I think we should consider it January 2014, not June 2014 as established in earlier posts. New authors, consider this change official until further notice.

001 - Close Encounters of the Q'orren Kind by laserkid on Sat May 15, 2010 3:27 am
The United Nations has fully stepped up to serve the intended purpose of the UCPA, void of corruption under the leadership of President Andrew Lizar and newly appointed Vice President Michael Wight.
The Freedom Fighters set off for Johannesburg on the Enterprise V to enjoy the 8th biennial God of Fight tournament, an Akigiyama-sponsored event that pits the world's best fighters against each other in a series of matches that permit all styles, including magic. Weapons are permitted in select fights.
The opening battle pits Andrew Lizar against an old Freedom Fighter, Alkasetzer, who has not been seen since Chapter 7. During the fight, an alien race calling themselves the Q'orren appear in a grand style and request to speak to the leaders of Planet Earth to establish trade.
Their leader Valinthia holds a friendly long-distance meeting with Andrew and Wight, however in private indicates motives of conquest rather than trade and is disturbed that members of the powerful Lizarian race are still alive.

015 - Dream Sequence 1: The Future Revisited by Shad on Tue Jun 01, 2010 2:04 am
Quote:
Shadow was my original character. He appeared in chapter 3 claiming to be a time-traveler on a mission to kill a man named Darkness. According to Shadow, Darkness destroyed the world in the future, and the Freedom Fighters had to stop him. At the conclusion of chapter 3, the Freedom Fighters failed and Darkness destroyed planet earth as the heroes escaped to another planet. Chapter 4 was largely a tale of their recovery on this new planet.

However in chapter 5 things got hazy. The Freedom Fighters were awakened from a long dream, and found that they had been in a dream world (referred to as stasis) which Hunt had created to occupy them while he enslaved the very much still-intact planet earth. As Midnight Dawn carried on the group easily accepted that the peculiar events at the end of chapter 3 and throughout chapter 4 were a dream, however for Shadow it wasn't quite so easy.

Given the timing of his arrival, and the 'future' that he remembered, it was apparent that Shadow had never known any life outside of Hunt's dream. Prior to his awakening with the rest of the heroes in chapter 5, his entire life appeared to be a fabrication created by someone within Hunt's Tech organization. He refused to fully accept this, and spent the rest of his life seeking out an explanation for his existence, convinced to his dying day that Darkness was real and would one day have to be confronted.

Shadow left the rest of the Freedom Fighters at the end of chapter 8. His friend Glenn Franklin (my current main character) pursued him and found him dead, with no explanation and nothing remaining except for his sword, the Zicron Blade. Glenn took this sword and trained with it, finding its powers both completely unique and difficult to harness.
In chapter 10, while fighting a wizard named Tyne who utilized an unknown form of demonic magic, his sword reacted violently. From this point his odd visions began.

Glenn experiences his first extensive vision of Shadow's memories. In this sequence Shadow wakes up in a hospital with amnesia. His only memories are of his sword the Zicron Blade and a battle with an evil force. Declaring his past a shadow, he takes on this new name. A man named Quacy takes him from the hospital to a military compound, and explains that he is a Team Delta soldier, the most elite class in the nation. He tells him that a mysterious man calling himself Darkness caused Shadow's amnesia, and Shadow vows to kill him. Shadow meets the rest of his unit, code named Zero, Leo, George, and Falcon, and the six plan an assault on an enemy base operated by General Drokon following a lead that Darkness is working there on a plot that could jeopardize friend and foe alike.

(Tretu were half-reptile half-man guards created by Hunt.) Being far too large for the device, the system malfunctions. Recognizing the Q'orren and knowing full well their intentions, she attempts to contact Andrew and warn him.

036 - The Great Q'orren Offensive by laserkid on Thu Jan 27, 2011 1:03 am
The Q'orren attack directly at last, moving to eliminate Andrew and company in a single high-charged blast. Andrew utterly exhausts his powers repelling the energy beam and cleaving the assaulting vessel in two. As the group escaped onto the Enterprise, ground troops rained down on Johannesburg before them. Having sensed the coming chaos, Janus, Lydia, Jarrok, and Niki return from their long absence and meet up aboard the ship.
The Q'orren's opening cannon strike on the tournament arena is repelled--another quick move to take out many of the world's finest in a single blast. Ground troops decent through the roof into the stadium.
Kaiser has played his card. In his previous private meeting with Valinthia, he had agreed to aid her attack and split the earth 50/50. Betraying the woman, his tip off to the Freedom Fighters and secret defensive preparations in Johannesburg temporarily save the day. Not quite the 'hero', he tells Valinthia "This earth belongs to me – not you aliens. I’d rather die killing your entire kind then rule with only partial control."

037 - The Fighting Begins by JasonPaul on Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:54 pm
Shaidorol arrogantly informs Silf that the mystics would be better off as slaves to the Q'orren. Silf obviously refuses to surrender, and he fires the same sort of cannon used against Andrew at the New Belexes capital.

There, an Akigiyama officer informs them of the status: Johannesburg is mostly occupied by Q'orren, and the population has fled underground. The Q'orren have thus far only discovered five of the many hidden entrances into the tunnel network, but there is continuous heavy fighting at each. Left with no other choice, Glenn and Kevin join Akigiyama and are sent to the front lines.

The Freedom Fights hold off the Q'orren assault on the Enterprise with ease--the only thorough victory thus far. Valinthia, her pride wounded, shows off a side of complete madness. Meanwhile, Xion is dispatched to try a different approach to overcoming the Enterprise.

044 - Down the Slippery Slope by JasonPaul on Thu Mar 03, 2011 11:56 pm
As the Q'orren prepare their ground assault on New Belexes, Silf gives Anwyn permission to use certain banned runes not yet approved by the senate, but only discretely. Signs of descent also appear in the Q'orren camp, as Shaidorol expresses disgust at Valinthia's self-serving, unprincipled actions. The Q'orren gain an upper hand however, revealing their own knowledge of the banned runes before Anywn's troops have any opportunity to employ them. A large contingent of the New Belexes front line collapses under the assault.
