I think a good question would be: 'What would Konami need to make the next hit Suikoden game?'

They could just churn out a mediocre sequel if they just wanted to keep the series 'alive'. Maybe they're waiting for a good opportunity to get together a team that could make the next game as awesome as they want it to be.

If they made it super pretty, with ridiculously long summons and vapid melodramatic core cast while giving none of the other stars character development they could make it a success.

In summary:

Optimistic fans: no news means they're just waiting to announce the BEST SUIKODEN EVA!

Pessimistic fans: It's been almost two years since the previous Suikoden, the series must be over. Woe is me. (Even though it took three years after the release of the original Suikoden to get a sequel.)

Realistic fans: "No news on Suikoden eh? Don't botha me."

Well you're clearly taking a shot at people who don't expect the Suikoden series to continue on as it once was. First of all, saying its been two years since the "previous Suikoden" is extremely misleading. Most people would say its been five years. Secondly, how does not being concerned with a lack of Suikoden news make you "realistic"? I don't see the relationship. If anything I would consider people weighing the actual evidence here to be realistic. Realism to me would be accepting that the Suikoden series may never continue as it once was but it remains a possibility until Konami says otherwise.

it feels like it. or in the form we know.
maybe their style has no place in a larger scheme of things?

I sure do miss it. but there are other titles I could fall "in love with". but it won't be the same

No, I'm just making jokes. People can be as optimistic, pessimistic, or realistic as they want to be. I'm not concerned either way.

Suikoden Tierkreis is as much of a Suikoden title as any other game in the series. It may have been significantly dumbed down to try and nab a larger share of the RPG pie, but it's still a Suikoden.

That's the thing though: the only evidence is lack of evidence. Many RPG series have gone longer without news, and Suikoden is no different.

Add konami as your friend in facebook.. I've seen the new letter by Konami addressed to the Suikoden fans.. The truth is that they don't have any news of new development of the series..what a shame..

Is that a roundabout way of saying that they have decided to kill it off after all?

well, apart from telling us that they don't have any news for the next suikoden, Konami did ask the fans of Suikoden of what they loved about the series..maybe if we could just post a lot of replies to that letter, then they can consider supporting another installment of Suikoden..So I suggest the members here in Suikox bombard Konami in facebook with their hopes of having another suikoden game..

I thought Tierkreis was a commercial and critical success in Japan and even to an extent - the rest of the world?

*sigh* I guess we can always ask that guy who made Exit Gate to continue the series for us. He's pretty good actually.
