The fourth official installment comes out later this year (late October), and it's looking pretty sweet to me. This latest game will include vocals and drums, just like Rock Band, which may or may not be a good move for them. (Personally, I just like playing guitar, and I hope the song charts don't suffer because of this move. The guitar parts for Rock Band, even on expert, are just way too easy.)

But anyways, I recently scrounged up a potential list of songs for the newest game. It looks really legit, but I can't back it up 100%. The number and quality of tracks is truly astounding though.

These are the songs that are 100% confirmed for the game at this point:

At the Drive-In - "One Armed Scissor"
Billy Idol - "Rebel Yell"
Foo Fighters - "Everlong"
Sublime - "Santeria"
The Answer - "Never Too Late"

The rest I can't vouch for, so I won't post the full list up just yet. Once I find the link again, I'll post it up, but for now, I'll post just a few of the songs that stood out the most to me:

30 Seconds to Mars - "The Kill"
Alice in Chains - "Man in the Box"
Avenged Sevenfold - "Bat Country"
Jimi Hendrix - "Purple Haze (Live '69)"
Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Sweet Home Alabama"
Metallica - "Master of Puppets"
Michael Jackson feat. Eddie Van Halen - "Beat It"
Pink Floyd - "Comfortably Numb"
Rage Against the Machine - "Renegades of Funk"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Give It Away"
Rise Against - "The Good Left Undone"
Slipknot - "Duality"
System of a Down - "Toxicity"
The Police - "Every Breath You Take"
Tool - "Schism"

The game is less than 3 months away, so we should be seeing the official list soon. But if the list I saw is correct, it's going to have a LOT of good tracks on it.

Michael Jackson?? REALLY? That's worth the purchase right there, if it's true! :D

From the song list, I'd say this looks really interesting. This could be the best Guitar Hero game so far. On what console is it going to come out?

And...

Jimi Hendrix - "Purple Haze (Live '69)"

It'd be the best if this song would make it.

Wow the un confirmed list looks good and I'm pleased to see Everlong will be on it, heres hoping its the full version and not the cut off single version.

I'm also pumped for the prospect of Beat It that was an awesome song, two legends of music together in one song, PLEASE don't put the crappy Fall Out Boy cover in! Serious its just an insult to Mr Van Halen.

I guess we have to expect some of the modern popular music in there, so it sells better. Popularity over quality is not something I would do personally but we gotta expect it.

Heres hoping this is awesome and Cheaper than Rock band lol

Nah, it's confirmed as the Jackson version, so yeah, no mutilations in this game.

The game is shaping up to be really nice, though. They confirmed a bunch of songs within the last 24 hours though I don't remember everything, all I remember is "Rooftops" by Lostprophets, ahaha.

after just getting Guitar Hero On Tour I am a bit more concerned if a DS version of the next console game will be made or if it will just be a complete different tracklist again for the next DS game.

Okay, I think my unconfirmed list is actually fake, so don't buy into that one too much. Some of those may still end up on the final game, but so far 23 tracks have been confirmed to be part of the game, 100%.

EDIT - 8/23: Added more confirmed songs. The newest additions are in bold.

EDIT - 8/29: This game is "World Tour" for a reason. Eleven more songs confirmed from bands all over the world. They're in bold now.

Airbourne – "Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast"
Anouk - "Good God" (Netherlands)
At the Drive-in – "One Armed Scissor"
Beastie Boys - "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"
Beatsteaks - "Hail to the Freaks" (Germany)
Billy Idol – "Rebel Yell"
Black Label Society - "Stillborn"
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – "Weapon of Choice"
Blink 182 - "Dammit"
Bob Seger – "Hollywood Nights"
Bon Jovi - "Livin' on a Prayer"
Coldplay - "Shiver"
Credence Clearwater Revival - "Up Around the Bend"
Def Leppard - "Animal"
Dinosaur Jr. – "Feel the Pain"
Flo Rida feat. T-Pain - "Low"
Foo Fighters – "Everlong"
Hush Puppies - "You're Gonna Say Yeah" (France)
Interpol - "Obstacle 1"
Jimi Hendrix – "Purple Haze (Live)"
Jimi Hendrix – "The Wind Cries Mary"
Joe Satriani - "Satch Boogie"
Kent - "Vinternoll 2" (Sweden)
Linkin Park - "In the End"
Linkin Park – "What I've Done"
Lenny Kravitz - "Are You Gonna Go My Way?"
Lost Prophets - "Rooftops" (UK)
Metallica - "Trapped Under Ice"
Michael Jackson feat. Eddie Van Halen - "Beat It"
Modest Mouse - "Float On"
Motorhead - "Overkill"
Negramaro - "Nuvole E Lenzuola" (Italy)
Nirvana - "About a Girl"

No Doubt - "Spiderwebs"
Oasis - "Some Might Say" (UK)
Ozzy Osbourne - "Crazy Train"
Ozzy Osbourne - "Mr. Crowley"
Paramore – "Misery Business"
Radio Futura - "Escuela de Calor" (Spain)
Silversun Pickups – "Lazy Eye"
Steve Miller Band - "The Joker"
Stuck in the Sound - "Toy Boy" (France)
Sublime – "Santeria"
Survivor – "Eye of the Tiger"
System of a Down - "B.Y.O.B"
The Answer - "Never Too Late"
The Doors - "Light My Fire"
The Doors – "Love Me Two times"
The Eagles – "Hotel California"
The Enemy - "Aggro" (UK)
The Smashing Pumpkins - "Bullet With Butterfly Wings"
Tokio Hotel - "Monsoon" (Germany)
Van Halen – "Hot for Teacher"

Total: 54 / 90 (estimate)

Also, it appears Zakk Wylde will be a playbale character in the game, which will be f'ing sweet. And I think Ozzy will come out to sing the two songs listed in the game, joining Brett Michaels, Run DMC, and Steven Tyler as previous singers in the guitar hero series.

My sources:

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/897/897271p1.html

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/901/901403p1.html

EDIT: Oasis!! Woot woot!! :D Not the song I would have picked, but I'm still happy.

Kinda disappointed that my initial list wasn't true, but the real game is still shaping up to be pretty good.

Oh, and to answer a previous question, it will come out on PS2, PS3, XB360, and the Wii... so pretty much every console. It comes out a week after Rock Band 2, so it will be interesting to see how the two games "compete". Although, if you're like me and enjoy these music-based games, you'll end up getting both.

As far as I know World Tour won't be on the DS, but they're making a new title called Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades.

And aside from those Noot said, other songs have been fully confirmed into the game by magazines and other websites. They're reliable, don't worry. There are 2 Doors and LP songs, just like Ozzy. Beastie Boys, Lenny Kravitz, CCR, Modest Mouse, Motorhead, Steve Miller Band, and Ted Nugent also have songs in the game, along with Lostprophets. I'm too lazy to find the full list though, right now there are about 40+ confirmed songs. There's even an Italian song (yes, Italian) confirmed, but how will we non-Italian people sing it, I have no idea.

<3<3

I is bery bery excited!

EDIT: Oh damn....they had to put in Crazy Train....They play that song at every single home football game at my high school and I had to go to every single game because I was in band. That song really annoys me now.

I'm kinda slow with the update, but there's a German game convention going on right now, and in it they had a hands-on demo of Guitar Hero: World Tour!

Here are the eight songs that were part of the full band demonstration:

Bon Jovi - "Livin' on a Prayer"
Coldplay - "Shiver"
Foo Fighters - "Everlong"
Interpol - "Obstacle 1"
Lenny Kravitz - "Are You Gonna Go My Way"
Michael Jackson - "Beat It"
Linkin Park - "What I've Done"
No Doubt - "Spiderwebs"

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/899/899340p1.html

YEAAHH!! "Beat It" is officially in Guitar Hero 4!!!

**EDIT**

By the way, I've edited a post near the top to provide an updated list of the songs that are confirmed for GH4. Check back often because updates are coming faster as October 26th approaches! So far we're at 38 songs.

If anybody has news on songs that I don't have on my current list, please post them with a source and I'll glady update! :D

I found the two songs by The Doors ("Light My Fire" and "Love Me Two Times") and Linkin Park ("What I've Done" and "In the End") as well as the Beastie Boys, Lenny Kravitz, and Steve Miller Band ones.

I vaguely remember "Float On" being mentioned for Modest Mouse, but maybe I'm thinking of Rock Band 2?? Hmm.

Could you help me find the links to those articles so that I can make more updates for my list?

Yeah. Here they are:

- Everything from Metallica's new album, Death Magnetic (but as DLC)

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Up Around the Bend
The Guess Who - American Woman
Lostprophets - Rooftops
Modest Mouse - Float On
Motorhead - Overkill
Nirvana - About a Girl
Oasis - Some Might Say

It's from an Xbox Magazine, but I can't find any scans of it at the moment, I've seen it though. I'm pretty sure that's in the official GHWT forum, though.

And, the European Songs. They have different songs for each country, but I don't know the exact country:

Tokio Hotel - Monsoon
The Enemy - Aggro
Anouk - Escuela de Calor
Beatsteaks - Hail to the Freaks
Negramaro - Nuvole e Lenzuola
Stuck in the Sound - Toy Boy
Kent - Vinternoll 2
Hush Puppies - You're Gonna Say Yeah

EDIT: I almost forgot! Muse, Dream Theater, and Korn have been confirmed numerous times through the conventions and magazines, just not the songs.

Radio Futura - Escuela de Calor

Not what I wrote. XD

Oh yeah, and these:

The Cult - Love Removal Machine
Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker
Blondie - One Way or Another
The Mars Volta - L'Via L'Viaquez

YAY L'VIA L'VIAQUEZ
