Phase 4: Turn 1 - Island Nations vs. Tinto at Lasahn/Silver Lake

A relatively small svannah exists between the regions of Lasahn and Silver Lake, seldom traveled even by traders. Who would have thought this svannah would become theatar to one of the bloodiest battles in the history of mankind?

From the south came the toughened sailors of the Island Nations, some who have walked from as far as Vrasny. Their skin was scoured by the years of salty sea-winds, and their eyes were filled with bloodlust, each carrying a myriad of maritime weaponry. They were led by the Kanakan Mage Futch, who was most feared within the Island Nations, only next to the Duke of Gaien himself.

From the north approached ranks of grimy, hardened men of the mountains--miners of Tinto, with pick-axes, swords, and shovels, their eyes glared with revenge for all their fallen comerades from past battles.
Ced the Lad led these hardy men through the svannah, when scouts informed him that his enemies are marching towards his men.

Ced the Lad informed his men that their quarry was near, and that it was time to show the Island Nations the power of their steel. The miners of tinto roared in anticipation, raising and rattling their weapons as Island Nation troops approached.

As Futch approached, he studied his enemies calmly. He swiftly ordered Chibyakko to advance forward and The Black Knight to take the right flank. Futch ordered his "Booze Men"--The Drunken Mages of Kanakan--to attack. Joining in the incantations, the sky suddenly darkened, and in short time a rumbling was heard.

Suddenly, a tremendous bolt of lightning struck in the midst of the Tinto forces, striking the metallinc weapons of many men. 6822 miners under Gil-Galad perished, and Gil-Galad himself was rendered unconscious. His men quickly carried him away and retreated from the battlefield.

Following this mayhem, Futch signaled his other men to charge as the thunderclouds started a squall, imbuing the air with the smell of fresh earth.

ChiByakko and The Black Knight's men attacked from the front and the right flank, while Ced the Lad and Ganon Dun's men countered these attacks, and a fierece melee ensued. ChiByakko raced in and fought furiously, and his men pushed into the ranks of Ced the Lad. Seeing his commander in trouble, Ganon Dun attempted to attack ChiByakko's forces, but The Black Knight's men got in his way, forcing him to engage him. Ganon Dun roared as he attacked his enemies, blood dripping from his shovel blade. The Black Knight also tore at the flesh of his enemies with his bloodied gaff-hook.

As the rain poured down and soaked the men, the green savannah turned quickly into a bloodbath, raging with the roars of men and death shrieks. The two forces maintained their strength, but as time passed, it was evident that the miners of Tinto were pushing back the Island Nation forces.

Alarmed, Futch ordered the Booze Men to march in for melee combat. The mages drew their weapons and proceeded to enter the melee. However, it was already too late. The Black Knight was injured, forcing his men to retreat. This allowed Ganon Dun to help Ced the Lad--his men quickly converged upon ChiByakko's forces.

The tide of battle was obvious by then, Ced the Lad and Ganon Dun crushed ChiByakko's forces in short time, forcing him to retreat. Realizing that the turn was lost, Futch retreated, but not before 3544 of his Booze Men were defeated by vengeful Tinto miners.

Ced the Lad proclaimed victory, and the miners of Tinto roared a mighty war cry.

That was the end of the first skirmish of this battle, and over 30000 men lay dead on the bloodied savannah, but this was only the beginning...

I would shake my fist and yell about how I'll get you for this, but the death toll is a little humorous.

Phase 4: Turn 2 - Island Nations vs. Tinto at Lasahn/Silver Lake

This morning was different.

The coolness of the morning typically drenched this savanna with refreshing morning dew, but this day, it covered multitudes of dead warriors like a shroud for the deceased. Countless bodies were strewn among the knee-high grass, some of them already prey to carrion, and others stripped of their arms by scavangers of the night, most likely bandits from the eastern mountains.

However, as if the carnage of yesterday was not enough-- drums of battle echoed in the distance-- its presence shortly announced with the flurry of banners, inscribed with the credo, "Dulcis pro patria labor." Leading the Tinto forces was a man only known as "Death." He led his "Death Bringers," a group of 14544 tough, burly miners known to challenge the most treacherous bell pits in search of precious ore, often braving noxious gases to achieve their subteranean glory. Each man carried a pick-axe, gleaming as dawn illuminated its blades.

They marched across the savannah where the battle took place yesterday--piles of corpses were strewn about, but the tough-minded men continued marching without concern. However, as the group proceeded, Death heard screams from behind. He then heard someone yell, "the dead are attcking us!" Death climbed on top of a nearby corpse-pile, and to his astonishment, saw numerous island nation sailors crouch up, as if waking from the dead. Realizng the occurance for what it was, Death yelled, "This is a trap!"

Indeed, the seemingly undead sailors were those lying low amongst corpses for an ambush, led by Njord, one of Island Nation's most feared generals, also known as the "God of the Oceans." Njord commanded his warriors to attack, and the sailors, with trident in hand, started stabbing at the Death Bringers. The savagery of this battle exceeded the one preceeding it, with cruel weaponry tearing the flesh of sons, fathers, and even their grand fathers all the same; entire bloodlines were lost on this day. The Tinto banner was falling everywhere Death can see with his eyes. However, he rallied his men and drilled right into Njord's ranks puncturing through his defenses and managing to escape before his forces were totally annihilated. The entire skirmish resulted in the slaughter of 12366 miners of Tinto, while the Island Nations lost 7272 of their sailors to the ghoulish steel of Death.

Although Tinto's defeat seemed obvious to all in this battle, this was not quite true. A trapper leader known as "Thief" was leading his men numbering 14318 with smaller bodies, often used for pulling drams through narrow passages. Having seen the carnage that befell on Death, he attempted to sneak behind the enemy and directly attack their commanding force. Thanks to the agility of his men, he was able to pass Njord's forces without detection. They saw the forces of Futch, and seeing the defenseless magicians, Thief ordered his men to attack.

Futch was alerted by the sudden clamor coming from an unexpected direction, but clamly ordered his mages to attack. The mages were quicker than Thief had expected, as they unleashed a terrifying torrent of lightning from each of their fingertips, arching across the grass, leaving a buring trail behind them as it raced towards Theif's men. Screams were heard as men collapsed from electrocution, some others were burned alive in the conflagration resulting from burning grass--the death toll was 2023 men so far. However, Thief rallied his men and continued his charge. Theif reasoned that mages would be easy targets once up close, however, Futch's mages proved to be deadly in close quarters as well, countering Theif's attacks with exceptional skill. Although Thief managed to defeat 3579 of the mages, he realized his forces were breaking up after sustaining further casualties of 3027 men. Feeling that he is pushing his luck, Thief ordered his men to retreat. They retreated nimbly as they arrived, not giving Futch a chance for further pursuit.

Nearly 30000 new corpses lay in this svannah today, many of them accompanying some of the kin that died yesterday. Will more families be reunited in the neatherworld tomorrow? Most likely, as the war has not yet ended.

Phase 4: Turn 3 - Island Nations vs. Tinto at Lasahn/Silver Lake

Despite the numerous war-dead, this battle was not quite over. The forces of Tinto and Island Nations were already lined up, facing each other for their final showdown. Too many men on both sides have been killed--soldiers in both sides swore revenge, their hands clenching their weapons in bloodlust.

The battle started with a charge by Njord and his massive infantry. The sailors charged in with their tridents and gaff-hooks. Tinto sent out Acheron88's massive infantry to hold back Njord's attack; Acheron88's men armed with pickaxes and swords proceeded to attack, and the two forces clashed like glaciers of steel colliding with each other. Similar to previous battles, the battle was a brutal, dog-eat-dog state of nature, where each man fought for his own life. Soldiers grit their teeth as pieces of flesh were chipped off from their bodies, and others went mad from the absolute carnage. Roars, shriekes, and cries echoed as the men of the mountains and the men of the sea collided.

While the main battle raged on, Ced the Lad led his men numbering 8959 to attack Island Nation's leader unit. He circled around the melee between Njord and Acheron88, finding Futch's magician unit. Seeing Futch's unit of 6522 magicians, Ced the Lad ordered his men to attack.

However, Futch's men were prepared for an attack from the flank, and quickly unleashed their magic. Arrows of ice formed in thin air, launching itself against the Tinto soldiers. Many Tinto soldiers fell, but they continued their attack undeterred. However, the magicians proved to be able in melee combat as well, fending off the vigorous attacks of the miners. By the end of this skirmish, 3261 soldiers under Ced the Lad were defeated, while Futch lost 2239 soldiers. Surprised by the strong resistance, and in danger of being isolated, Ced the Lad decides to retreat.

Meanwhile, the battle between Njord and Acheron88 was coming to a close. 8730 men of Acheron88 perished in the intense skirmish, while Njord lost 7286. Although the losses were nearly equal, Tinto's reinforcesments were few in number. Knowing that Island Nations still have further reserve units, Ced decided to call for a full rereat of all units. Although he know forces left at Silver Lake would not be able to stop invading Island Nations forces, he hoped to consolidate forces at Huanan's Keep to retake Silver Lake.
