I had found out one of these tidbits last year or so, now it resurfaced. I'm going to quote-post this as I made it travel.

now anyone can have their own view points, from "the animals deserve better they were here first" for the "kill the wolves" part, what ever it is, this should be intersting.

Quote:
so, apparently the yellowstone wolves are out of controll, killing everything and escaping the park to go on a feast, for this they want to have some limmited special hunting.
now now. there is always pro and anti wolf debates, number controll, safty for everyone (to many wolves crowed could spred rabies and parvo I guess)

but what makes me raise an eyebrow is a group of biologists who want to bring african animals -back- to North America. during the last days of the ice age Montana had lions, camels and packaderms, so, we need to save these animals by having the species live, in the wilds of the great plains. (again, we used to have megafauna and they all died)

so what does this sound like? "Kill the wolf bring the lion" someone should make a web comic about elephants warring with buffalo and wolves warring with lions.
(oh yeh that and someone wants to clone mammoths, hmm?)

they aren't ideas by the same people, but the notion is funny all the same.
somehow having lions and elephants around are safter than wolves for everyone.

The wolves will deplete their food source and kill themselves off. That's how nature works. Everyone wants to restore parts of the world to their natural beauty by preserving them but then they get all upset when nature decides it doesn't want to be confined. Guess what, nature's natural state is not a controlled area with a limited number of a species. The planet doesn't work that way kids.

Oh boy, I', Sure Ebon will have something to say about this

Anyways, This will be interesting if you ask me. nature taking it's course is certainly one way to see this go, but I sincerely doubt that is how it will end up going over.

As for the idea of bringing lions and such to the Wild in the US...Couldn't something like that rape the hell out of the Ecosystem? Lions Vs Bears, Oh my.
