Pretty much every single issue of Famitsu. Although I don't think that will happen this year, because if they wanted to announce anything this year they would have done that yesterday.

P.S. PSP would be fine too, I guess.

Indeed. A game doesn't have to have top-notch visuals or full voice acting to be superb as Suikoden II demonstrated (though its translation was on the sloppy side). I think DS ports of the first two games would be nice as well (though Konami did do PSP ports of them), with extra content such as viewing the events of the games from the Scarlet Moon Empire's perspective in the first game and Jowy's perspective in the second game...

Well it looks like we might have another suikoden III on our hands, I guess everyone should just sit back and relax because it's going to be a long wait till we get any news. Though I'm still somewhat optimistic that we will hear about SVI this year, and that the mobile game is somehow related to it in some way. Those mobile comics in japan have been our for a while, so they wouldn't even mention it unless it was something new. And notice that it's a mobile GAME, not mobile comic.

You think maybe the mobile game could be another Suikogaiden?

I think a Suikogaiden would pretty much need to star Nash, and since both S4 and S5 take place far away from the northern area around Harmonia that Nash stays in, not to mention are in time periods where Nash isn't born yet, it is very unlikely. Since S5 is the recent release, a new Suikoden "side game" would be related to it, or possibly Suikoden 6.

But Nash would be pretty young if the new side game took place around Suikoden V's time period...on the other hand, if it took place in the Falena region *after* the time of the third game...

Could it possibly be Konami are waiting to see how sales of the PlayStation 3 go before announcing anything??

TGS 2007: Konami (Lightly) Jabs PS3
Quote:
At Konami's TGS press event earlier this week an executive for the company couldn't help but join in for some good old-fashioned PlayStation 3 teasing. The comment came from Kazuya Takahashi, Online Contents Production, Exec. Dir., as he was discussing Konami's plans for mobile phones.

While making a point about how every consumer has a mobile phone (and it is therefore the biggest market for gaming), he asked everyone in attendance who had a Wii. Next, he asked who had a Nintendo DS. Finally he asked, "How many of you have a PlayStation 3? Probably none."

Of course, Konami then brought out Hideo Kojima to show off the latest trailer for its PS3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4. So it had better hope one or two people have a PS3 by the time it comes out.

That is interesting, Konami shows it's frustrations with the PS3's sales record. This will probably effect Suikoden in some way too.

I'm thinking that any side game would likely take place in New Armes, but I'm hoping that whatever they release is a piece of shit with no impact on the overall Suikoden storyline since our chances of getting a mobile game released in English is about the same as getting the gaidens.

And I think not mentioning Suikoden VI is pretty stupid, if it's in development it's worth giving even just a brief mention. News about the game, no matter how small, will build a lot more anticipation than hearing nothing at all.

Uji: I wouldn't really say that they're frustrated at the PS3's sales record, it just an off hand joke, and a pretty unfunny one at that.

There was a few years' gap between Suikoden II and Suikoden III (the PS1 to PS2) transition, so I do suppose they're on a wait-and-see basis...

"Jim Henson had a 'wait-and-see' attitude and look what happened to him... Now we've got wrong sounding Muppets!"

Seriously, though. I'm not sure how much longer I can go without another Suikoden. Other RPGs/franchises just aren't doing it for me, these days.

Family Guy FTW ^^

But since Suikoden doesn't seem to be nearly as popular in Japan and America as, say, Final Fantasy, I can easily understand why they're not churning them out like crazy...

Exactly. But it looks like Konami is playing the waiting game, waiting to see how the new console generation will turn out and expecting to get bigger install bases. Releasing a handheld edition in this time would have been a perfect move, but it seems that Konami has some stoggy old conservative executives who haven't realized this. DS is a phenomenon right now and PSP is picking up some speed too, and a new 2D Suikoden would be great, just look at graphics like Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Yoshi's Island DS and of course, Suikoden I & II on PSP (Japanese release).

I'm starting to hope that they do indeed avoid the PS3 for Suikoden. I hate this piece of junk, and wouldnt mind selling it.

And for the record, Admiral Ackbar, I think that "suikogaiden" in that context means "anything that isnt a mainstream suikoden game."

Personally, I'd be fine even with a DS or PSP port or sequel of Suikoden Card Stories that was translated into English. Doesn't have to be a "proper" Suikoden sequel at all.
