With suikoden V introducing us to Shun Min and Retso, two characters who made appearences in Suikoden II as members of the Black Dragon Clan. I was thinking that Suikoden VI might continue the trend and introduce some of the other faceless chefs that made an appearance.

My personal hope is that they will introduce a young and ambitious Jinkai if it's pre Suikdoen I, or an old and repentent Jinkai if it's post Suikoden II. He was the leader of the Black Dragon Clan, and my personal choice for the next chef. Are there any characters you would like to see as the next chef? Perhaps from one of the challengers of Hai Yo? Would you like to see a previous chef make a re-appearance? Are there any specific qualities you think the chefs should posesses or would like them to?

It's an insignificant sub-plot to the game of course, but fun to think about and the cooking contest of Suikoden II was pricessless! I'm happy and sad that they didn't try and re-create that as a re-accuring game element. It made Suikoden II all the more unique, but it was fun as heck so I wouldn't be apposed to seeing it again, how about you?

Or could you care less?

I think i'd like to see one of the suikoden 1 chefs return to say hi. either that or an undead Shun Min who wants to protect the fish by feeding the unknowing castle inhabitents to them.

While ending every sentence with "yuk yuk yuk" and then asking for potch because she needs a new hand on the black market after her previous hand just up and dropped off. "OHH SHE'S GOT NO HEAD!!"

The only chef I want to see is Gremio, so that you can be given an improved option when he's cooking.

Stand there
Scare him
Tickle him
Stab him in the heart
Cast Thunder Runner on his face
Boot him in the balls
Use him as a key ingredient in his special stew (He probably gave Tir a special serving anyway the dirty bastard)

And that would be the most fun you could have with a chef outside of the Iron Chef gimmick.

Fo Shizzle. Gremio (undead as he is) deserves his fair share more and more heaps of pain.

But on the re-emergence of the ironchef game, I am all for it. I LOVED the whole thing. It was great. I was always thinking that it may even be interesting enough to warrant a separate game of it's own :P

I think Konami have been trying to make us love the new chef games ever since Suikoden II, but will just eventually find themselves coming back to it sooner or later, it was amazing! I'd like quite a reserved cook who is mild mannered that we can cook food through for all the characters in the cook-offs. :D

I think it would be neat if they could improve upon the cookoff like they improved upon the duel system. By adding variance to each one. Maybe having an Iron Chef-esque theme to each battle and a number of basic recipes which can be incorporated to make dishes, each judge having a feeling on whether that choice was right or wrong, i.e. Billy liking it that the chef used the secret ingredient of potatoes to make a spicy soup, but Kuromimi not liking that chef used secret ingredient of beans to make a hearty salad. That way every cookoff has it's own flavor and brand new dishes each time, a la all new moves each duel!

I thought it would be neat if we didn't have a chef, but instead the "iron chef" competitions were held with different SOD's as the cook, You select the menu and the ingredients and reciepies they make but they are each responsible for how good/bad the meal is. I picture the cooking system to be kind of like the cooking system in Harvest Moon Magical Melody. It would be neat if they improved the system, I would love to see more little side stories take place in future suikodens even if they arn't about the cooking game. Imagine a rock climbing substory like the one with the black dragon clan! w00t!

So, basically just like Suikoden II then, where certain judges liked certain things, while others didn't. At least, that's what I'm getting from that, unless I just didn't understand your post fully.

I have to say, I'm all for going back to the Iron Chef battles. They don't need to try and make up a reason for people to come challenge the chef like they did in Suikoden II. Not saying that wasn't a nice touch to it, but I think they could just have chefs showing up to challenge the house chef simply because they want to see who's the best. Except perhaps make it closer to the Iron Chef competition where both sides have to use the same secret ingredient in their dishes, and it's up to each how they jazz it up.

As for the who, doesn't really matter to me. We could bring back someone, but if they just have an all original chef, that's equally fine. Especially if they'd do chef battles without any deeper meaning other than one chef wants to be the best.

Or, they could have the back story that all these opposing chefs are evil and are being trained by the villainous mastermind, Gremio. We all know he was evil anyways, that's why the virtuous Millich had him devoured by spores. For someone who's supposed to be able to see everything, Leknaat sure dropped the ball on that one, bringing him back to life and all.

Maybe because Leknaat is really evil thus she actually orchestrated the whole thing. It may not even be a stretch if she caused her entire clan to be massacred because Hikusaak seduced her (for all we know she is just just closing her eyes and pretending she was blind).

Sailor Sexy, that's basically what I said. Secret Ingredient. Scored by how judge approves of use of secret ingredient, not necessarily their own taste. For instance, if you watch Iron Chef America, sometimes the judge will say something like 'I don't really like beets, but this frozen beet juice sphere is wonderful!'.

I was thinking of the same thing. Like in S3, where some of them have cooking skills, but they have a special area they are better at then others. Or maybe by choosing them, they effect the spices( ex. the curry vs. sugar ratio). Maybe the judges can be random people from the Black clan or something. It would be a good game to attract people to come to the castle or whatever IMO. Maybe the chefs from different cities come in and challenge the hero, and he has to make a team to work with.
