Fireworks are illegal in the state of new york and I am sad. I'm going to sit here and drink my Earl Grey all day until I have to go to work. _________________

I watch Wimbledon now to celebrate America's independence from Britain. How contradictory. Ah, well. I completely forgot today was July 4th, until my friend reminded me yesterday, that tomorrow was the day. *sigh* I completely lose track of time during the summer. _________________

Happy Fourth July to all us Yankees. As for why we're so obsessed with fireworks...
We Yankees have a genetic predisposition to liking things that go boom and blowing stuff up. _________________

And pretty "oooh!" "aaah" colors too!
Happy Fourth everyone! I'm going to watch the big fireworks display that the high school holds each year. ^_^;;

So, here's a 4th of July riddle.
In New Jersey, you can only buy fireworks if you are not from the state. You must present ID. This is because it's illegal to set off fireworks in NJ. So, you would assume that someone from Deleware could go to NJ, get fireworks, and then bring them home to set off. Wrong. It is also illegal to cross state borders with fireworks.
So if I go from Philly to NJ, and buy fireworks, I cannot:
1: Set them off in NJ
2: Bring them back to Philly
3: Do anything with them
So, WHY SELL FIREWORKS IN NEW JERSEY?! _________________

I'd just like to point out that the origin of the whole fireworks thing originates in the same way as the line "...and the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air..." from the national anthem. The fireworks were originally symbolic of the warfare and strife we had to endure in order to gain freedom and liberation from the English oppression (no offense to my British brothers and sisters! I love you guys!). Now they're just a celebratory thing...but boy, they're pretty! <3 _________________

I Celebrated our Independence last night, and I have to get up and work early tomorrow so any further freedom celebrations are going to wait till this weekend. :-P.

Yay! I got rained on! Heavily! And we still got to see our fireworks. Haha, shows you how much we love our fireworks. We were hoping that one of them would get hit by lightning midair. That would've been pretty sweet. But it didn't. How disappointing. Anyone else get rained on? _________________ The immortal chickens shall rule the world!! |
