Odin Sphere Trailer

It’s been a while since I played something from Atlus. Stella Deus really traumatized me. But I think I’m willing to give them a chance now that I’ve seen how Odin Sphere’s gameplay looks like.

We had nothing to go on but scans, and I have to admit, I didn’t know what an RPG was going to look like in nothing but 2D. Nippon Ichi’s Atelier Iris and Ar Tonelico titles brought back emphasis on the “Old School” RPG feel, but even those games weren’t pure 3D. This game though, seems like it’s all it has.

But just by looking at the trailer, it seems to remind me of the classic Mega Man side-scrolling adventures. If you want a newer analogy, think Super Paper Mario for the Wii with much more emphasis on the RPG elements.

Seems like you can create items in this game too if that potion fusion scene was any indication.

It would help so much more if I understood the Japanese text, but oh well. Personally, I can’t wait to get this game after what I saw. Unique characters with unique move sets, fancy looking art, combo attacks, etc. It strangely reminds me of Guilty Gear. Looks fun! Anyone else getting this game?

Edit: Must get money . . .

05.22.07 = Odin Sphere (PS2)
05.22.07 = Dawn of Mana (PS2)
05.29.07 = Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm (PS2)

Hmm... I thought there was already a topic for Odin Sphere...

Anyway, it's Atlus. I already know it's hot. I might end up picking it up, I dunno. I haven't really looked much into the game. I do know, however, that it's Odin Sphere's fault that Persona 3 is getting a late release. D:< But other than that, from what I've seen, it looks okay. :P

It seems like the PS2 is still not yet a dead system. There are lots of very tasty looking lower budget, but fun looking RPGs coming out for it this Spring and Summer-- and Odin Sphere has been one of the ones I've been watching. All of these games are much more of a reason for me to stick by my trusty old PS2, rather than going to buy a PS3.

I like the look of the animation. Like most I, too, was quite traumatized by Stella Deus. What I'm not clear of from watching the trailer is what type rpg gameplay Odin Sphere falls under. It looks to be action-type yet Atlus has always been a strategy rpg house in the past.

It's not made by Atlus. It's an action rpg. Think Tales.

On that note I advise you all to post in the older thread, not much point in leaving this open.
