I was just wondering.
In suikoden IV near the end of the game you are given a wooden amulet by Rita and Noah (I think thats what there names were)
In Suikoden II Pilika asks you to pick up a Wooden Amulet from the City of Muse.
Do you think there is any connection between these wooden amulets?
Also, me and a friend were talking about this and he mentioned that the wooden amulet may symbolize something. _________________

Do I think that they are the same amulet? No. Do I think the developers added it in as a cute reminder of Suikoden II? Yeah. I don't know if they really symbolize anything. The wooden amulet was just one of a few quests that you're given to do at the beginning of Suikoden II-- on the same level as mopping the floor, and fetching the items from Ryube. I think it's much more likely that the developers just wanted to add it in as a little piece of nostalgia. _________________

it doesn't symbolize any thing. it's just a amulet with a seashell and some other stuff on it. nothing big to it. _________________

For all we know, it could be the same Wooden Amulet that we see in Jowston so many years later. |

I'd actually be inclined to use the example of the Rose Brooch as a similar example, although the Wooden Amulet is obviously not as present in Suikoden. |

But there isn't just one Rose broach there are many, you can even buy them form certain shops, just like i'm sure the wooden amulet isn't the only wooden amulet in the world.
Yes there is a possibility that it is the same one, but also it could be a completely different amulet.
So in effect there really isn't an answer to this. |

I don't think so even if I have thought of that. In his final moments, Luca Blight found that wooden amulet with fireflies inside... |

I'd think "wooden amulet" sounds very simple and yet sacred. It also has a feel of innocence, I'd say. |

Isn't the wooden amulet also one of the tradeable items in at least one of the Suikoden games?
Anyway...doubt there is any significance between wooden amulet's throughout all the games...as mentioned earlier the Rose Brooch is also like the wooden amulet except it's actually associated with the Narcissist's of the Suikoden gane (90% of the time).
wooden amulet's in the game is nothing strange. Alot games have "wooden objects" as part of beginner's quests and/or equipment. _________________

Wasn't the scene where Luca Blight finds the wooden amulet on the tree based off of something. Possibly a strategy used by someone in the old "Three Kingdoms" book. I think I heard this somewhere. |

I'm pretty sure you're right Seraph. I think Zhuge Liang used a similar strategy. Vextor or probably John could probably clarify it for us. _________________ Be awed by our prowess!

I'm fairly sure that Zhuge Liang didn't ever pull anything like that off, although he did have that done to him by Zhou Yu in Dynasty Tactics 2...
If I remember correctly from what I've read, Master Sun's descendant Sun Bin did that to Pang Juan, the guy who maimed him and had him imprisoned. Or, it might be more accurate to say that Tian Ji pulled it off according to Sun Bin's advice. That's not the Three Kingdoms period, though, that's Warring States. Even so, I'm pretty sure that's accurate. Many great strategies were pulled off in the Three Kingdoms period, and still more were exaggerated in the novel, but I don't think this is one of them.
/me heads off to rant about how ridiculously overrated Zhuge Liang is... |

Yeah, that's correct. That's a strategy pulled off by Sun Bin to kill his rival, Pang Yuan (who was a colleague of Sun Bin who became jealous of his skill, and framed him for a crime to have his achilles tendons cut--resulting in Sun Bin being unable to walk). Sun Bin had his people leave a carved message on a tree on a path that he knew Pang Yuan's forces will take during the night. Pang Yuan's forces comes across the tree, and Pang Yuan becomes curious of something being carved on a tree. He lights a torch to read the message, which says, "This is where Pang Yuan dies." Seeing the torch, crossbowmen launch volleys after volleys and Pang Yuan is killed. |

wow I never knew about that. That is pretty cool
