Imagine you are the main char in Suikoden V and you found out that Georg one of the people you trust most dearly killed your mother. Would you be able to forgive him?

I understand why Georg had to do what he had to do when he killed Queen Arshtat, but still it is your mother after all.

Personally, I dont know if I could forgive him in that situation. I mean the mother seems really nice and you have a great love for her and she was only acting that way because of the sun rune corrupting her.

what would you do?

I would not be happy with the man, but it was either that or see Sol-Falena (at least) reduced to ashes along with many, many people. That could facilitate numerous other problems like New Armes invading and succeeding since Falena would be in total chaos. One cannot say whether that would be worse than the internal war that followed, but at the time, it was the logical thing to do...and he was fulfilling the promise to my hypothetical father in this situation.

I would forgive him, but I probably wouldn't send him a Christmas card.

Weeeeellll.....if you put ME directly in the shoes of the main character and I didn't know anything about the rest of the game nor knew about this whole 108 stars = best ending junk

Honestly.....I would hate him, forever. Not to the point of revenge mind you but yeah...It would take him ALOT of effort on his part for me to forgive him

First I should say that Suikoden V is one of the few games that was good enough that this question isn't a question of "if." I was the main character in Suikoden V. I trusted him enough at that point that I knew that he had to have a good reason for having killed my mother. There's also the fact that without him, my mother would have been dead anyway, one way or another. Plus... there are other people for me to hate first.

if i didn't know what really happened it would be a little hard to trust him. but since you find out the truth i would be able to trust him fully. first off your mother isn't really herself since the sun rune can take control of her. so what's saying she won't kill you next? what georg did was the right thing and i would forgive him for doing that, plus he did save sol falena for doing that. if he didn't sol falena would prolly be a burned up town like lordlake.

Honestly, no. I could definately justify why he did it, and I would know he did it for the right reasons, and that it was probably needed. But it's my Mom. You just don't forgive the person that killed your Mom, unless you don't have a good relationship with her. And the Prince certainly had a fairly good relationship with her.

This is one area where I thought Suikoden V failed, the Prince just forgives him to easily. I guess it's one of the drawbacks of having a silent hero.

If I were the prince and my mom went crazy because she couldn't help it and would probably sunned the living dirt out of the country would I be able to forgive the man who killed her?

Yeah, I could. Realisticly. If it had to be done it had to be done. Mom, dad, dog. I don't care.

Maybe I'm saying this because I don't like my mom? Ho boy...

I had no good relationship with my mother in the real life, but still...
It was a good decision when George left after he was confronted with the fact that he killed the queen. I wouldn't have chased after him, primarily because I would have been busy surviving. However, even after the truth was revealed, I think I wouldn't like to have him near me. Maybe I am scared? What if he ever thinks that I became a danger for the country? As far as I remember (and that might be wrong as mostly), the prince never heard from him or someone else about Ferid's plead for killing his wife if something like this happened? Well, if that is true, I wouldn't want to have him dead, because I knew part of the truth from Galleon...

Yvl, being a psychic main character from Suikoden V you think you would have saw that one coming! eh!

As for the topic at hand, yes i would have forgiven Georg. I think, if i was there in that suitation with my mother about to destroy Sol-Falena, at least, i would have taken her life to stop her knowing that it was the Sun Rune controlling her.

On the issue of forgiveness, I certainly wouldn't have forgiven Georg when he first reappeared because I did not have enough information to know that my father was the one that asked him to do so. Details about the incident may have been rather hazy, such as the fact that my mother was completely out of control and it was all Georg could do to save Falena and thus doom her. As such, I'd imagine that I would have been close to furious when I first saw him, but my anger would dissipate with time as I began to understand all the factors that led to this tragedy and realize that Georg wasn't the one to blame.

On the issue of trust, I think I would have trusted him. To me, Georg would be the man my father always trusted with everything and seeing that I also grew up with him, I would know him to be a trusted ally. Had he wanted to betray me, he could have done so many times before after all.

Personally, I would have been very angry at him, but only because I would be unable to supress my sadness. Either way, my mother was doomed to die, and his killing her helped to save her from having to know in her last moments that she had doomed Falena, which she loved almost as much as my father. For that, he deserves forgiveness and compassion.

I would be pretty shook up and forgiving him would be the last thing on my mind. What I'd be worried about is if I could trust this man to stay by my side to fight the big badguys or will he end up having to kill me as well to further the greater good of something else.

Because even if I was the protagonist, I'd only be human and worry about my own personal safety.

If I was the prince, and heard he killed my mother, I'd be upset at first, wondering if there was any other way. If it was possible for George to just knock her out, or something that wouldn't kill her.
However, considering that George leaves the castle after Miakis tells you this, and you see him later, then I can safely say, I would of forgiven him. It'll still upset me, and I'm not sure if I can see him the same way again, but considering George busts his butt to help the prince(or in this case, me), then I would eventually forgive him.
I'm not that close to my mother, but I'd still be upset if someone killed her, even if they were in good intentions, or self-defense. Even if the person is someone I see as an Uncle, or my best friend, I still won't be able to feel comfortable with the person for a long time.
In the game however, I think the hero was given enough time to take in the news. Also, if my mother was on drugs, and threaten to kill the person and the people around them, then I can't blame the person for doing it. Again, I still wouldn't be able to feel comfortable around them for a bit.
