And I think the non-foreigner policy will stay for quite a while, especially since not even the most powerful nations that we have (Grassland and the Republic of tinto) can easily invade the Shogunate. sure, explorations are possible, but an invasion is a totally different matter.
|
Even with explorations, those two nations are unable to even reach Katana since they would have to go through numerous hostile territories to do so.
I'm wishing I could get in on the whole Katana backstory thing, but by now it'll just seem like I'm stealing others' ideas. _________________

Yes, doesn't look like anyone will be touching them for a while... Thats probably better because I can see a civil war or something begining, VX will add The Shogun's main rival soon, thats my guess. :P |

i'd assume Katana's current position on the map was adeliberate decision to ensure whatever's going on there won't get mucked up by us non-NPC types for a little while. :P _________________

I agree. I also think that Katana being conviniently placed in the far east of the map with a lot of unnocupied naval regions is for the non-NPC nations to leave Katana alone for the moment. From the looks of things, I don't think Katana would be disturbed by non-NPC nations for a while, except maybe through explorations.
I suppose that the non-foreigner policy would affect Katana very much in its current state of being far away from many nations, since at the moment I don't think Katana would not have any connections to other nations but only to itself. I'm very interested to see what would happen to that nation after a few more phases, when some nations (might) get closer to Katana. |

The unoccupied naval regions (a.k.a. the "black dots") have nothing to do with this at all. Black dots mean that nations can pass through, but risk of getting attacked by either sea creatures or pirates. So technically speaking, as long as you aren't blocked by an enemy's naval region, you can (safely) reach Katana.
To take real example, Jowston can definitely attack Katana if we chose to do so this phase because there's no obstruction whatsoever that blocks us. Heck, even Nameless Lands from the north-west of the map can technically attack Katana if they have the right diplomatic relationships with certain nations.
To me, the location being on the East side of the map can come down to two reasons. First one is that it's convenient in a sense that it has decent size to fit a nation, but not another nation (compared to the gigantic land on the west that seem to be able to fit like 5-10 nations in there) which would make "isolation" story to make sense. The second one is that Katana is mainly inspired by Japanese culture and obviously Japan being in Asia tend to be considered as Eastern side of the world. But that's just pure guessing from me. ^^ _________________

Yeah, that's what I was supposed to say, but I got lazy with typing my post that I forgot to point that one out. Yes, non-NPC nations could attack Katana starting this phase onward, but I think it's unlikely. From my point of view, I don't see that move as a very good one, since there is a risk of fighting multiple battles before being able to attack Katana itself, which gives you a disadvantage. Besides, I don't think it's very rewarding to do so anyway. Katana wants to isolate itself for the moment, and I don't think invading it for now would give the inavaders plus points from Katana.
So yeah, I'd like to think of the unnocupied naval regions as "borders." They make a particular nation think twice before pushing through with an attack if there was a black dot in between.
By the way, thanks for pointing it out, Aurelien. |

I'm sorry Axis. :P |
GAH! Then I'll fight my way to Tsuruhime-nuu, even if I have to face you and all of the Nameless Lands, fanboy!
Katana's bound to have something stirring up inside sooner or later. And I think it's going to have something to do with Tsukushi no Arabito or them merchant folks or a huuuge mystical-involved civil war to have an effect on the outside maybe?
Well anyways, seems like Kinasato and Kurenai add up to the list of Katana babes!
Oh, and are the ninjas new? I don't think I've seen them the last time I looked at Katana's memberlist.

Please, don't get us involved in yet another fight concerning NPC's. For the love of non-NPC's, NO MORE ANGRY NPC'S! I can't take it anymore! :( |

The ninjas have been there since pretty much the begining. I personally think it will be between the Shogun and someone. |

Nuh uh, Axis. Check the sig. I'm the official owner of Tsuru-hime now, and there's nothing you can do about it. Mwahahaha!!

Okay, let's make up a deal. You can claim both Kinasato and Kurenai, but leave Tsuru-hime to me!

Nah, they've been there for quite some time already. |

*sigh* Allright, Tsuru-hime's yours, Ryusei.
...at least for the time being. Uji's approval means nothing!

C'mon Axis, don't feel bad... At least you've got Kinasato and Kurenai. The more the merrier, right? It's not that bad. And besides, we're both supporters in the Ujitsuna shogunate campaign. We shouldn't be disagreeing with each other. Can't we just get along?

Am I the only one that can see the lunacy in it all? This is almost as bad as when Tinto forced Phil to marry Ati-anyaka while he was away. _________________
