Did anyone ever use this? I read Aurelien telling me how he used it on all his characters and that it didn't work with Genshu, although I've heard of the trick and I know how to do it, I've never actually tested or used it. Do some players need it to complete the game? Have you used it? |

I doubt anyone needs it to clear the game. Before I used cheat discs and the like, however, I used to do it in replays, I just have a hang-on about maxing out characters as much as possible. _________________ One day, I shall come back. It might just be me, I never ever have even experimented with cheats in RPGs, the only time I've ever used cheats was in Grand Theft Auto, and that was because they were so widespread. I just can't bring myself to be bothered after all this time, especially since I didn't feel like using them when I was replaying the Suikodens through. |

I've used it once to bring my Chuchara to level 99. Sadly I think I got screwed in stat growth as he ended up still sucking majorly (I think his STR ended up close to 1 STR/Level ratio which is VERYYY bad).
And no I didn't use it on all characters. I said that Genshu is the only one who can't use the level 99 trick (I'm not that patient in keeping Riou's level so low) because that's the fact based on how the trick works, and not because I tried one by one on everyone lol. That'd be insane if I tried.
As far as whether the trick is needed or not, well we all know that Suikoden has never been the most difficult game in the world, so obviously it's not required by any means. I guess one of the main reasons people use this trick is simply for fun (to see how strong one can be, just to "do" the trick, etc). _________________

I haven't used it yet, although I know how it works. I just don't seem to find the need for it, since Suikoden II isn't really one of the most difficult games I've played. But mainly it is because it's too much of a hassle for me to do so. If I wanted to do such, I would rather use a gameshark or any other similar device. It's time efficient, and it yields equal results. But I think that's just me. |

I've managed to use it on Lorelei and that's it. Though in a rather similar fashion I got Luc to 89 or something, his Magic stat was so far ahead of Mazus' too. _________________ Pizza Hut supports the rebellion!

Used it on Karen but it didn't work as well as I'd hope so i stopped. Man she was still way behind my other characters even though I got her to about level 90+ _________________

Something interesting ot note, that other people have noted too.
On some of my play throughs of Suikoden II, when I recruited Pesmerga and Mazus they were on level 99. Others have reported the same occurence with them, and also Georg Prime.
I don't know how to explain this, as it doesnt happen every time. I assume it's some sort of bug, though I prefer to believe that it's a way of telling us of the "legendary" status of these characters. Or near "superhuman" abilities of these characters if you prefer. Georg is "the best swordsman in the world", Mazus is probably one of the greatest Arch Mages of all time, and Pesmerga is an obviously powerful enigma that isn't human, is likely from another world/plane, and is probably far more powerful than anyone suspects. |

I doubt that's the case, bro. The bug can also happen with Hoi when you recruit him. :*laugh*: _________________ One day, I shall come back. Yes, we shall all come back. Did you play Suikoden II via an emulator? This ting always happens to me whenever I play Suikoden II in an emulator. I don't think the reason for this is to show that this particular character has a "legendary status" since it also works on Hoi. I mean, whoever thought of Hoi as a legend anyway? But yeah, the only plausible explanation I can give here is that it is some sort of glitch on the emulator. |

I've never used this, though, I know of it. I'd rather work toward the ending. _________________ ard says:

Those characters affected by the "bug" are characters that join at a level dependent to that of Riou's.
Anyway, you don't need to be Level 99 to clear the game. Suikoden II's pretty easy. And yes, it's impossible to do this trick on Genshu, unfortunately. He can only go as far as Level 75. *sigh*

Nah, Chuchara's STR growth just sucks. It ranges from 0-3 per level, and the 0's and 1's come the most frequent. XD

I did. Even Nanami! It was pretty bizzare having her at Level 99. XD _________________ "Oranges can't fit into circles because rectangles are made of cheese." |
