Do I need to say more? Konami of Europe has listed Suikoden V on their site, confirming the September 22nd date that was fluttering about forums for a long time.

It doesn't mention anything revolutionary beyond that, however. Well. This made my day!

Arf.

Suikoden V, as a whole, is a wonderful, wonderful game, but Konami Europe are really going overboard on the site about it.

Unimaginable twists? No. None. Zero.

And, well, bad news, Konami, but adding mini-games isn't exactly the most generous boon ever placed in a game.

Yeah, I know, it's hype, it's advertising and all the rest, but it's describing practically a different game to the one I played.

Also, why can't Konami Europe put 'RPG' on their site? Action-adventure? Rubbish.

I must say, alright, that the article on it isn't the pinnacle of journalistic skill. I mean...

Konami of Europe wrote:
Over 60 playable characters for millions of party combinations

Basic mathmatical ability suggests otherwise.

Hey, it's still meant to be a good game. I still haven't played it, so it's great that it's coming here soon. I'm so glad at the announcement, I've just pre-ordered it! These next two weeks will elapse too slowly...

No, their claim is mathematically correct.

With n = 60, and k = 5 (since the prince always has to be in the party; if we count entourage characters, k would be even higher), we see that there are 5461512 different possibilities to form a party. Thus the article is right.

...The extent others go to to prove me wrong. Assuming it's right, of course.

How is that going to any great length?

And if you're not confident in the answer, why don't you check it out using the formula?

I have, in the meantime. I got the same answer, but I can't seem to imagine it logically.

I mean, how can there be over 5 million combinations with only 60 characters? I can imagine a few thousand, but...

Eh. Maths was never my forte. Linguistics is more my thing.

Anyway... PAL Suikoden V! Huzzah!

Technically, if you put the formations in there as well it would be even more.

OMG THIS SOUNDES LIEK the BIGGAST AND BESSTEST RGP EVAR!!!1one

I love Suikoden V, and it's my favorite RPG and Suikoden. And I still think that article is waaaay over-exagerrated :D.

I think I'll try to count them...

1. "branches out in many directions" (what was that, like 3, maybe 4?)

2. "all with unimaginable twists" (wow, they must have a very inactive imagination)

3. "help you to construct the strongest home base ever" ([SPOILERS]Wasn't this the only base in the series that the enemy actually penetrates?[/SPOILERS])

4. "your most fearsome enemy yet" (what happened to Luca?)

5. "can be equipped with unique items" (you mean the armor, spell scrolls, and items we've seen in almost every other Suikoden?)

6. "analysing how best to outsmart the latest group of enemies, Suikoden V will keep your brain absolutely engaged" (LOL!!!)

7. "every wide expanse of open country yields something special if you care to look" (you mean like a tree?)

I give up...

Yeah that's why I never pay attention to advertising and other such things (like the back of the box) when deciding to buy a game. At least they're not bragging about the game's MYSTIC HEALING POTIONS or anything (This was actually advertised on the back of Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter's case).

And even though the game took six more months to reach Europe I still can't help but feel a little jealous of them...after all, they get to experience the game for the very first time. Those who haven't imported already are in for a real treat.
