Really? Silent Hill 1? I was able to play it fine...great game by the way, in my opinion. It's too bad that the controls got stupid over you, syb. You're entitled to your opinion, of course.

that's what drew me to it; that whole 'eerie feeling' combined with the horror style storyline; i probably will never find out...ah well. maybe i'll give another sh a try sometime in the future.

This is a somewhat long post, but it details the reasons why I hated these games, so without further ado...

LEGEND OF LEGAIA

This is a hate-it or love-it game. For me, it fell into hate-it. It just happened right away when you begin playing as Vahn, the stereotypical mute nice guy. Unlike Suikoden's heroes, Vahn was just there. He served no purpose other than to extend yourself into the game and have the 'main character' Seru, which is the Fire element, naturally. Once you leave his hometown, Vahn has no impact on the story whatsoever. Then when the villain attacked his hometown, I wanted to wretch at the whole cliche-ness of it all.

Getting Noa and Gala didn't help much in the story department for me, although I hear that Noa is popular in the Legaia series. In the end, the story revolved around Noa, and probably why she was popular. If it did revolve around her, she should've been the main character, not Vahn. Whatever.

The villains... let's not go there. Gameplay... nuh uh. Graphics... no thanks. Story... what story? Well... one saving grace was the background music in the mini-game Baka Fighter, how it was disco and techno at the same time. Rarely is that achieved since disco died. But yes, Legaia fell into the hate-it dept., and I never finished it. All of this applies to Legaia 2, although they made only a couple of improvements... and yes, I never finished Legaia 2, either.

FINAL FANTASY VIII

My memory's a little shady at the moment with VIII, but I know that none of them are good ones. The only person who can top Rinoa's constant helplessness is the wife in the B movie Manos: Hands of Fate. I mean, geez! She got into trouble every five minutes, whether it's being attacked by monsters, being kidnapped, hurtling through space or being absorbed into someone else's body, and this results in Squall having to come to her rescue all the damn time! Ugh, I hated it!

None of the other characters made up the gap for me either. Squall and Seifer were full of it, in their own ways, Fujin was Square's answer to speech impediments when they were popular (plus Ultimecia's 'k' silliness), and the rest were just undeveloped. The storyline was way too confusing, and the main reason why I have a bad taste in my mouth whenever time travel is involved. And why the entire Garden decide to give Squall the role of leader constantly eludes me.

The gaming system was terrible, what with Drawing magic and fine tuning your weapons, and monsters leveling up with Squall's levels. Too bizarre for a Final Fantasy game, IMHO. The only things I like about VIII are the songs it has, like Liberi Fatali, the boss music, Maybe I'm A Lion, the final boss, etc.

FINAL FANTASY X-2

I loved FFX's gameplay, character and plot development, but X-2 totally ruined it for me. As stated before, the Charlie's Angels gag made no impression on me, plus the costumes were gaudy, the characters were undeveloped, the story was rushed and terribly forced, and the sexism was coming at me full force. Brother flat-out creeped me out at how he was making awkward advances at Yuna (his cousin, mind you), and then saying he liked her determination. Give me a break! :evil:

And then I saw the character designs for Shuyin and Lenne, and came to one conclusion: Squar'nix has officially run out of character ideas. They were, by far, the worst character rehashes I've ever seen, especially Shuyin. Leblanc was pretty much a replacement for Lulu in the 'badly dressed older female' role (Lulu's still cooler, tho'), and the three guys Nooj, Gippal and Baralai were just overall ignored.

And now, drumroll for my pick of worst game I've encountered...

ALUNDRA II

Oh my God, I get shivers every time I think back to playing this game. I've heard good things about the first Alundra, but I wouldn't be surprised if the second Alundra killed the series altogether. Let's see, we have some mute country bumpkin running around, saving the world from a cliche inhuman freak's evil plan to take over the world. Sound exciting? Didn't think so. :roll:

The gameplay was cruel and unusual punishment, having to brave some of the most impossible timing traps and confusing puzzles in order to advance. The fighting system is like Kingdom Hearts' except... not as good. Too jerky, especially when jumping. The characters around Flint, our random hero from the street, don't serve to boost the storyline either. The princess, Alexis, was just a dunce overall, and ended up falling into the generic kidnapped princess plot.

Everything sucked... except for one thing. You get to reach a casino-like town where it has mini-games reminescent to good 'ol classics. One I liked was a shooting game where you play as chibi-Flint and you just shoot all these creatures around you that try to hit and kill you. It was addictive.

I think that the first Alundra wasn't that bad... I haven't really played the second one as it did look kinda crap to me... but that's my opinion and even though it looked bad, I would still play it for the record... that's why I am asking a mate if I could borrow his copy of Alundra 2... as this thread has made me realise that there is a game that a mate of mine owns but I haven't played it yet...

Legend of Legaia was a game that MOST role playing game fans liked... I can't understand how a role playing game fan would hate it... I was watching a bredren play it the other day... it didn't seem that bad... though the blue haired dude did look kinda dumb lol the game seemed fun somehow... you can't find a decent role playing game that easily now a days... unless you were living in tokyo or at least somewhere in japan where role playing games are thei specialty...

Final Fantasy eight huh... hmmm... you are not the first... but I can't really talk about that... or should I say, I have nothing to say about it... nothing at all lol I don't care for that game as it wasn't that good nor did I get an average amount of fun playing the game...

I think I have already posted here before stating which game I hated... but I can't really remember... but I am sure that I have so I will just type the name of the game here and be done with it... my reasons are in one of the pages right lol...

The game is an Xbox game known as stake!!!

I'd honestly have to say that I don't really 'hate' any game. Games are a reflection of society, and feature things beyond the reach of alot of our animations. No game is stupid, because of this, and because of the fact that I know nothing about programming and therefore could not do better myself.

I also research the games I plan to purchase beforehand, and usually buy only games that I'm aware of coming out. If there was a game I bought before that I was seriously 100% disappointed in, it would have to be Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.

Okay... yeah... maybe I should explain myself better to stop all if any misinterpretates starting or anything... I hate no game, I have no grudges against any game or anything of the sort hahaha... all I can do to a game, is review, preview and rate it very, VERY lowly... treating it bad, but still go get the game and play it lol... like stake, I think the only reason I tried it was to see for myself how good it was and all that... it's front cover had ANIME!!! who wouldn't be temtped to buy it lol...

Stake was I think... the most dissapointing game that I have bought... finished and returned within an hour, that was how dissapointed I was at the game... even though the journey took twenty minutes minimum... I didn't care, I was desperate to get this game back as soon as possible!!!! another game that was unforgettably dissapointing... was Bruce Lee : Quest of the Dragon... I thought that a Bruce Lee game would be great... but as it turned out, it didn't last more than around four hours long... :cry: WHY does the developers dirty Bruce Lee's name in the games industry!!! WHY...!!!

I don't know. If it's popular, I won't argue it, but I know for sure that I'm not a part of that group. I was just downright bored while playing both Legaia 1 and 2.

I won't stop you, since a good gamer tries any game in a genre they like, but I ain't promising much good besides from the mini-games I mentioned.

You have a point. In the case of those games I mentioned, you could interpret them as 'games I don't plan on replaying for a LONG time', and I provided my reasons why.

My least favorite game?

I'm probably gonna get a lot of flak for this, but I absolutely cannot stand Final Fantasy VII.

Ever since it first came out, I didn't like it. I thought the graphics were horrible, I didn't like the music, the storyline made me cringe, and the characters were beyond static.

A fun thing I did one time was go through the game renaming everyone to match their place in the plot (Some may need to shortened to fit the spaces).

Cloud = Psycho
RedXIII = Mascot
Cait Stih = WTF
Barret = Stereotype
Yuffie = Annoying
Aeris = Martyr
Cid = Token
Vincent = Angster
Tifa = Codependent

Try it. It's fun!

...

As much fun as FFVII can be, at least. :D

I absolutely cant stand Final Fantasy 10-2. Its to long and while i was watching my brother the final boss looks impossible even for my brother the king of games.

I tried it and i could barely understand any of it, even using the official guide i could not understand anything.

I also didnt like only having 3 characters in the party, i liked having the 7 in Final Fantasy 10.

I got to Mushroom rock road and never played again.

Sadly I'm going to have to agree with you. I could only stand FF7 in moderate dosses...which is about 2 hours at a time MAX.

Also I thought Legend of Legaia 1 was alright...and the only reason I play Legend of Legaia 2 is to get the chars to 99 I think I only have Maya left...I have lots of free time.

2 long??????I must disagree with that,since the game took me like 30 or maybe 40 hours to beat.And the final boss is quite easy.Anyways X-2 still sucks and i think that SquareEnix is going to have to bring us the best FF with FF12.Thats the least they can do after that mess.

Guardians Crusade is my most hated video game. Terrible characters and bad storyline. The battles were horrible. I never finished it I couldn't take the hideous looking colors.

I was looking through the walkthrough and you had to go through all these different places which i would not want to do.

Also to add to what i said i could never see myself playing FFx-2 because i would find it boring after awhile. Which is why i stoped early.

I remember Guardians Crusade. Well, Sea God's kid, keep in mind that its for kids, small kids, like 6 to 12 years old. So the plot would have to be pretty basic, and the violence kiddy-like. At least it was long. But it, of course, is probably one of the worst RPGs i have seen, so i do agree with you that it sucked. If there was anyhting i liked in it, the music was not that bad. Probably the stupidest thing in it was having only one character to play, the dumbo of a dragon not included.

I guess I'll just bash on my Most Disappointing Game and Most Hated in a good way games.

1) Most Disappointing: You know what sucks about having te most successful RPG franchise in the world? You set the bar so damn high for yourself with each new release.

Final Fantasy X-2 was bad because the story seemed more like that of an adventure game than an RPG, which wasn't good. It was also very J-pop-ish, again, some people like, I do not, and there were no truly memorable characters. The music was also bad, and the 100% completion ending not worth it. The game also does have a few redeeming points, but I've discueeed them in other places on this board.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles was bad because it was an attempt to put the Final Fantasy name on an inferior product, make it the first thing to come out for Nintendo with the name on it and hype it up. It was a simple platformwe with no overworld map, no variety in dungeons and no story or character development.

Both of these games were terrible games too, not just terrible games with the Square name on it (Enix...ugh...).

2) Most hated games in terms of frustration:

Either Ocarina of Time during the Water Temple (it was the last game I reviewed), Always losing to my friends at Goldeneye 007. They all liked License to Kill mode, though which I hate because of one hit kills.

Lastly I guess was probably Super Mario Bros. 3, one of the best platformers of all time still. I got it when it came out in 1990, but I don't thinK I actually beat Bowser until about 1993, and I played the NES prodigiously. I blame it on my young and developing hands and brain.

All great games...except for the first two.
