I'll throw my hat in here too Vex, thank you so much for the incredible memories. I am definitely one of those people who had their IRL experience changed by the relationships I formed on this site. _________________

Other than a lot of fun, tears and plotting I think all I have left of this site is a few facebook friends.
When creating the back story for Nagerea I did incidentally educate myself on quite a lot of myths and history I hadn't previously touched on before. So that was fun. _________________

I'd have to echo what pretty much everyone else already has said here. This site was home to many of my fondest internet memories... Of course, I can't help but laugh at some of the ridiculousness that all the politicking on this site caused... (And feel slightly ashamed that I was actually the cause of some of it... Hey, at least I admit it!) In all seriousness, the interactions and friendships I made on this site made me a better person, and at the very least made me about a million times better communicating with others via text / internet interactions... Well, you get the idea...
Sorry, I ramble a lot. (Many will remember this about me...) Anyway, I do want to say this: I know you and I have had our disagreements and even a few spats here and there, but I really and truly respect what you've done for the Suikoden fandom, Ted. I even appreciate some of crap you gave me when I acted out of hand. (Yep, I deserved it.) And no matter what, I do wish you the best and I want to thank you for making this site possible. The memories and friendships I've formed from this site will always live on.
Seriously, dude. Thanks. :) _________________

While my real life wasn't changed all that much because of this place, my Internet life certainly was. It got me immersed in the Internet and now that's what I go to school for. So thanks for that, SARS. Oh, so that is a real life change, isn't it? Disregard my first sentence.

Met some great people on here! Only met Ganon "irl" but hopefully I'll be able to meet up with some of the others I've maintained contact with, and maybe even some that I haven't had the chance to keep contact with. Learned a lot from some really smart people. Kinda hard to believe that I basically grew up with Suikox from age 12 - present. I can't help but think it was definitely an integral part of who I've become.
I'll still be ghosting about on these boards from time to time. Not totally vanished yet. And hell, if Parapara wants to pick up the torch I'd be happy to be involved to some extent. _________________

*tosses two pennies into the mix*
I've been perpetually bad at maintaining a lot of my forum based internet contacts, those that I have on Skype and MSN and all that, I'm better about haha. But back when I didn't have those, during middle school. This site along with several others was one of the things that I genuinely looked forward to checking. I remember being in my IT class and occasionally getting yelled at for checking the site haha. But I met some great people, very few of which I'm still really in contact with sadly but we're all 8 years older from when I joined now and people change. A lesson that I've learned the hard way over the course of those 8 years.
But the points are that A) I'm truly grateful to all of those wonderful who I met here and those who devoted hours of their lives into making a damn fun game, and B) I'm happy to see that this site is still alive if far less active than it once was. And yeah. _________________

All these heartfelt words make me feel feelings I'm not accustomed to feeling. It's sad, in many ways, but also makes me so grateful to have met a lot of fine people here. _________________

I had a great time here. Been following Ted from one suikoden themed site to the next and had a great time doing it. I have never played another video game in which i became so heavily involved. It was alot of fun and i still wish we could have seen a conclusion which the original creator Muramaya envisioned.
Thanks for keeping me interested all those years. _________________

*reads posts and gets teary*
I must say along with everyone else here too that this forum was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I have met a lot of great people here and the tons of fun, great conversations and posts, and whatever else we did from games to contests, to the very essence of the Suikoden games remains a part of me. It was this site that has helped me advance my computer artwork along with advancing my friendships and loves. Thank you Vextor. Thank you everyone. _________________

Thanks for the kind words. I know how this place has been a place where many people formed RL friendships and in some case found their husband/wife, and as a result some lives will not be born without this forum |

I can't believe I didn't notice this before. I only noticed that I've been logged out of Suikox for a while and hence my lack of not seeing the flameof activity.
Vextor: There is not a whole lot I can say that those before me haven't. Just know that I am eternally grateful for your hard work and for this place. Thank you. |

Thanks again for all the kind words. I am currently in Shanghai for a week-long business trip. This is the first time I have visited China. Considering how much time I invested in matters related to Chinese classics (including Suikoden...), it was long overdue. I must say, the air is very very bad in Shanghai but the surrounding farmland reminded me very much of Suikoden's architecture and ambience.
My work keeps me insanely busy. Because I am the only true English speaker at my current workplace, I am in charge of handling all foreign correspondence-- which is quite a huge chunk of work considering how the company is Swedish-owned with production facilities all over the world. I spend a lot of time on internet-voice conferences with China, Philippines, Mexico, USA, and France. I am sure I am working a lot more intensely than in the USA. I definitely miss the more laid-back atmosphere that existed there, but there are merits to the serious nature of the Japanese work ethic... such as people actually doing stuff you asked them to do!
Sadly, I have not touched a console in over a year, and I am very much unaware of what is happening in the gaming world. I do play two online game though-- Great Voyage Online by Koei, and also have a character in EVE Online-- both are not combat intense and allow players to simply enjoy trade and other economic activity (I prefer that type of gaming anyhow).
My illness has not achieved 'remission' after 6 years. I am basically on the same medication, but Japan's 100% medical coverage for people with serious illnesses does help me a lot...
Anyhow, I hope I can find some time some day to work on this site again... |
