[quote="Matthew McDohl":1yj1jsor]I am sure they will just spring it upon us one day and say it is coming out in the following couple months.

Didnt they already start production on it anyways?

Sure, they also started development on Gradius VI, Castlevania: Resurrection, Coded Arms: Assault and their own freaking console... What happened to those projects? Oh, yeah, right, cancelled...

I'm sorry, but rumors are just rumors. If you want a suikoden 6, the best option would be most likely to send droves of fan mail to Konami. Maybe send an email to someone with influence within company if you know someone who cares enough. Like family guy from newscorp (FOX) for example, it was canceled but brought back to life by the efforts of its fans. Its effort, caring etc. but more than anything its bullying ( in a good way) a company. Customers whether they know it or not have the power because its their money the company wants and if a company can piece that together, things get done.

I dont know what happened with Family Guy, but I dont think sending mail would make konami develop or not a game. They will most likely analyse the results of the last games and estimate profit and loss. That's what I would do in their place.

then the question becomes how to convince them a Suikoden 6 will produce more profit than loss

As for my suggestion (and it was only a suggestion), how would you respond (as PR for a company or an executive) to say (not saying this many people care but for the hell of it) 30,000 combined emails and letters pleading for a suikoden 6. Heck, I wanna be straight, let's see them for what they are, Konami is a company or subsidiary composed of greedy business men who want money without be yelled at by their stockholders. The only ones who give a damn about development are us, programmers who want to make a name for themselves, people looking for a job, and artists who love the series (us again). We want something, namely production of a suiko 6, but what do we do to make them know we really want it? I can't tell you to do anything, I'm just saying doing something just might yield some results no matter how little the effort as long as there's effort.

You are right, but the Question at hand is who to target these E-mails and what not to. It can't be a whole bunch of different people as the meaning behind the message would be lost.

You're right, organization is important. But, I would say the message is simple, make a suikoden 6. As for the target, target every branch of the company one can think of, customer service, people you might know who have connections, or just google it etc. Don't think so hard, ya know what I mean? It all goes back, hopefully, to the people who do the decision making etc. As long as they can make the connection that fans+email/mail etc= demand for suikoden 6 and that hopefully they're also figure out suikoden 6 + development=money from fans, it'll hopefully be enough for them to assume that they'll make a profit. Also, apparently in addition to the japan and u.s fanbase,we have fans in other countries, if enough people voice their opinion or demand, it'll make Konami or whoever owns them listen, hopefully. I mean all of what I'm saying is basically meaningless without you guys, the fans etc.

"a ninja wastes no words" .....................
still, its been far too long since Suik5! Need fresh suikoden. Too many rpg's seem to be goin the way of FF. All fart an no shite. I really enjoyed ff12, but i wouldnt want every future rpg i play to be in this style. Most that i have played in the same style have been more miss than hit. I just hope that s6, if they make it, still has that visual charm to match the gameplay like the previous, excluding s4.

Sending mail won't do anything. You have to actually know someone at the company to get anything read, and I'm not even talking about silly ~do this for me~ letters but instead referring to possibly-substantial mail like work portfolios.

Secondly, with Family Guy, it all had to with the first season DVD sales, how it was close to meeting the necessary profit-margin to justify another season, and how profitable Star Trek has been since it was brought back after (at first) being cancelled after just one season. I find a good comparison for Star Trek is the peanut farmer who invented new uses for peanuts (I forget his name): companies post recipes on their food-like products' boxes because of him even though it usually makes absolutely no difference in sales.

Anyways, the only way to ~show them how much you want it~ is to purchase stuff from them, but unless you're absurdly rich, you alone won't be able to make much of a difference.

Now, back to the topic:

I know most of you won't be happy with me saying this, but re-naming it entirely for America would help sales. Afterall, the name is a huge part of marketing. Heck, debatably, it's only a part of marketing.

Anyway, I've noticed that Japanese things are frowned upon in America for being "dorky" and whatnot while violent things are considered "cool," so re-naming it something like Royal Carnage or The Bloodiest **** You've Ever Seen would help draw in those "cool" fps/fighting videogame fans. I know: it's obvious this is a dumb rationalization of people who once thought "videogames are for dorks" then realized they too like videogames, but no matter how dumb it is they'll stick to it because their self-esteem is ****. Try not to let it bother you much; it's not nearly as ****ed up and cruel as rationalizations like "it's good 5,000 civilians, including children, died because, uh... God willed it."

Oh, and I think Breath of Fire ending because BOF:DQ is, at best, frustrating on the FIRST playthrough. Things seemed to be going fine up until then.

Okay, fine, again, just a suggestion, my strategy was to annoy them to death but I really don't care as long as something is done. DO SOMETHING . Everyone has their own ideas. You want to buy stuff, go right ahead. If Konami thinks its a good idea to change its name to bloody carnage etc, congrats, I'm never going to buy that. But please understand me, I'm not criticizing. On Suikoden itself, fans like myself are fickle, to mess with the formula itself , yes, even changing the name is a big no-no especially since this game is a cult-type game. Same story for Romance of the three Kingdoms. Us, the people on this site love the game because of its formula. But I tell ya, with all its elements, it has so much potential to even contend with the big name games. On a name change, on second thought, not a bad idea, in fact they should have changed the name entirely for American release. But who would have known this little unknown game would have such an impact on people like me. Hmm, maybe it is time to let go. Suikoden is just a Japanese name for the Water Margin, they don't have the rights to the story anyway. Maybe its time to find another game based on it or create one.

And dammit, I don't care what anyone tries to say, I hate Dragon Quarter. Bad turn, bad turn, Capcom.

What i don't get is the reason for making games so far from the plot of the first 3 suikodens. Since Konami abandoned the setting of Dunan and the main characters from Suiko I and II, things didn't go pretty well...

Anyway, If there's a suikoden 6 i would love it to be a comeback to this setting wich we love and remember.

I really hope Suikoden is not dead yet... We just have to have a little hope, i guess.

Surely Konami will have at least one more go at creating another Suikoden. They havent had a crack at a third generation console Suikoden. The country could be huge and even more detailed. The duels and world map battles could be even better than s5. So much potentional as kenren said. At this point id be easy pleased though.

[quote="TonfarSpecialist":1fk2pv2b]They havent had a crack at a third generation console Suikoden

The average cost of producing a X360/PS3 game is $20-$30 million. Assuming they keep to the lower end of the spectrum they would have to sell around 350,000 copies at $60 a piece just to break even.

Now look at recent sales for Suikoden.

Suikoden IV: 303,000
Suikoden Tactics: 65,000
Suikoden V: 195,000
Suikoden Tierkreis: 156,000
