Wait, scrap a couple songs off that:

Anouk - Good God
Radio Futura - Escuela de Calor

Not what I wrote. XD

Oh yeah, and these:

The Cult - Love Removal Machine
Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker
Blondie - One Way or Another
The Mars Volta - L'Via L'Viaquez

YAY L'VIA L'VIAQUEZ

Why scrap them? I've confirmed them myself.

I saw those other four elsewhere, but couldn't say it was a 100% reliable source. But if you've confirmed them, I'll add them in.

Just 100% confirmed:

Muse - "Assassin"

Here are some more rumored songs that I can't 100% confirm:

Bad Religion - "Sorrow"
Fleetwood Mac - "Go Your Own Way"
NOFX - "Soul Doubt"
Sammy Hagar - "I Can't Drive 55"
Slipknot - "All Hope Is Gone"
Ted Nugent - "Stranglehold"
Tool - "Parabola"
Tool - "Schism"
Tool - "Vicarious"

Moving my list to Page 2:

EDIT 9/3: Added the songs that Archy posted. Also, it was announced that the Smashing Pumpkins will appear within the game with their own characters, along with the song "Today". There will be a Smashing Pumpkins downloadable pack when the game gets released as well.

EDIT 9/6: Added the Tool trio and the song by the Police. I had the three Tool songs in my "rumor" category, but it was finally confirmed.

EDIT 9/10: A few more songs were just confirmed, and all of them came from the "rumored band" category. Glad to see a Paul McCartney song in there, but I'm still holding out for the Beatles to actually be on a GH game one of these days.

Thanks Archy! Went and updated the list.

"La Bamba"? I probably couldn't do the vocals for that track since I have historically mumbled the entire song aside from the title phrase, hehe. What? I don't speak Spanish. The guitar part should be fun though.

I checked your link and found another article that revealed a couple more tracks:

The Sex Pistols - "Pretty Vacant" (re-recording)
MC5 - "Kick Out the Jams"

The game will also feature an all-new venue designed in collaboration with the band and highlighting the art style that has become a staple in their music videos, live shows and album artwork.

Wow. Just wow.

Oh, and this:

The Police - Demolition Man

The extremely gay Sting the musician is confirmed to be a playable character. Billy Corgan was also confirmed some days ago, along with these as DLC:

The Smashing Pumpkins - G.L.O.W.
The Smashing Pumpkins - The Everlasting Gaze

The full song list of 84 tracks (plus two guitar battles) has been officially released!

Here are the final songs to add to the list that were previously unknown:

30 Seconds to Mars - "The Kill"
Filter - "Hey Man, Nice Shot"
Jane's Addiction - "Mountain Man"
Jimmy Eat World - "The Middle"
KoRn - "Freak on a Leash"
Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Sweet Home Alabama (Live)"
R.E.M. - "The One I Love"
Steely Dan - "Do It Again"
Ted Nugent - "Stranglehold" (previously rumored)
The Allman Brothers - "Ramblin' Man"
Trust - "Antisocial"
Willie Nelson - "On the Road Again" :D

Overall, a very nice list. A much better selection than Rock Band 2's, in my opinion (but, I will end up with both games anyway).

The guitar battles are against (I think) Zakk Wylde and Ted Nugent, but I'm not 100%.

Yep, those are who the battles are against. Again, they're writing completely new stuff, so expect something similar to what Morello, Slash and Joe Perry all did.

It's actually awesome of them to plunge in to the newer market of music and being able to retain the old greats. Having Paramore, Linkin Park and Flo Rida besides the likes of Van Halen, Ozzy and Hendrix looks odd, yeah, but it's going to rake in the money.

Weapon of Choice looks to be the one song I'll keep on playing, though. :D

Okay set to get the bundle for PS3 so I'll have more flexibility to play "music band" games on both systems.

I don't know if I'm just not following things close enough or what, I know there's the music creator mode and I can download other people's created tracks, but I don't seem to be able to find the exact answer to this: Will I be able to just upload any song (through cd, ipod, or on hard drive), then have the game process it so I can play along? like Phase on Ipod or Beat on PSP? It's not like I'll have to know how to really compose music or program every note myself, like if I was to do it in Frets on Fire right?

I'm not a music snob or even musically knowledgeable, so I can careless if the notes or drum beats are wrong sometimes, but it would make me way more excited about this game if I can just generate and play whatever song I like.

The set list is rather boring in my opinion. The difficulty of each the set was also too easy. I was able to beat it in a week on Expert almost pretty much without failing any songs.
