[Phase 4] Grassland vs. Harmonia at Chisha/Kuput [Concluded]

Phase 4: Turn 1: Grasslands vs. Harmonia at Chisha/Kuput

Between the hills if Chisha and the forests of Kuput exists a vast nameless plain, once covered with a lush forest, but destroyed by the calamity that ensued at the very end of the First Fire Bringer War. After decades, the land has healed, but once again it has become a place for battle.

The armies of Harmonia and Grassland were facing each other in this vast plain. The banner of High Priest Saben fluttered on Harmonia's side, while the Grassland army was characteristically bannerless, escpet a few lizard clan banners here and there.

A single figure walked towards the middle--a hooded man clad in a black cloak that covered his armor. He spoke in an inhuman, low, cracked voice. "I am Synchysi, leader of the Angels of Damnation."

Saben gazed from his bier, "...a mercenary..." he whispered.

Synchysi continued, "I give you two choices; death by duel, or death by the Angels of Damnation, your choice."

"The duel is declined," Saben proclaimed as he complained about such barbaric practices to his attendants.

Synchysi replied, "may your deaths be swift," and returned to his ranks.

Seeing that their leader refuse the duel, some soldiers left the Harmonian ranks:

Undeterred by low marale, High Priest Saben ordered Filipe's "Crazed First class ex-pirate Magicians" unit, numbering 16267 along with his own magician unit, "The High Order of Order" numbering 12187 to attack the Grassland barbarians. The Harmonian magicians, with their superior numbers, pressured the Grassland armies back.

Situated at an ideal vantage point, the Harmonian mages started to chant. However, their chanting was inturrupted by sudden volleys of arrows from both flanks. Guardian (Archer: 1024) and Spell Breaker's (Archer: 8192) unit sprung up from the midst of the tall grass, showering the Harmonian mages with arrows upon arrows. Taken by surprise, the magicians were defenseless against the attack; their chants disrupted by the missiles and death-screams of their colleagues.

1024 of Filipe's unit was defeated, while 8192 of Saben's unit was defeated by the Grassland archers. Both Filipe and Saben were wounded in battle, and the remainder of their units retreated in haste to bring their leaders back to Harmonia.

Phase 4: Turn 2: Grasslands vs. Harmonia at Chisha/Kuput


As the Harmonian army retreated for safety, they heard war cries from behind. Seeing that they can not retreat fast enough due to massive numbers of injured soldiers, the Harmonian forces entrusted Nutflush to take command and hold off the Grasslanders until Harmonia can set up camp and regroup its forces on a grassy hill.

Nutflush quickly organized his men, positioning Maximilian Quizote and Dynast in various tactical positions. Eventually they saw a massive army arrpoach, led by Synchysi and his 46133 mercenary infantrymen. The mercenaries did not even stop, and proceeded to attack the Harmonians.

Nutflush waved a flag towards Maximillian Quixote. Seeing the sign to charge, Maximillian emitted a mighty holler and commanded his cavalrymen numbering 6009 to a full charge. The Harmonian raced down the hill, forming a "V" shape, and rushed into the ranks of the mercenaries. The mercenaries were poorly equipped, and were no match to the speed and armor of the brave Harmonian cavalrymen, and their ranks were disrupted. From above the hill, Nutflush nodded in approval as he saw the "V" formation cut deep into the ranks of Synchysi's mercenaries. 6009 mercenaries died in the charge, and seeing this, Nutflush ordered his men to charge.

Seeing Nutflush charge, Dynast followed him so as to not miss the action.

With all forces converging on his men, the mercenary Synchysi decided it was high time to call it a day, and called his men to defeat. His infantryment quickly started to retreat, turning back.
Despite being on foot, Synchysi's men were able to run away from the battlefield with amazing speed, possibly aided by powerful magic posessed by their inhuman leader.

However, Nutflush and Dynast continued in pursuit, not realizing that theye were getting dangerously far away from their main force.

From afar on top of a high hill, a man in flowing robes watched the battle-- it was the Chisha strategist, Anton Misri, in charge of the battles in the eastern front. Staring at the movements he uttered, "they took the bait." He invoked one of his runes and launched a ball of fire that arced high into the sky, leaving a trail of smoke.

Seeing this smoke was cavalry leader Sparda and his massive Safir cavalry numbering 26576. Sparda commanded his men to follow him from behind one of the hills.

Nutflush was shocked as he saw the massive cavalry appear, however, his troops were fresh, and were composed with one of the finest soldiers in Harmonia, blessed by the High Priest himself. Nutflush ordered his cavalry numbering 11476 to charge against Sparda's men. Sparda drew his sword with gless as he relished the opporunity to avenge for the loss of his homeland.

Around that time, another set of eyes saw the smoke. It was the Chishan mage VikiFanatic and his 30768 magicians. The massive magician contingent was Grassland's secret weapon, trained covertly for this day. Spotting the forces of Dynast behind Nutflush's cavalry, Vikifanatic ordered his unit to call upon the sprits to annihilate their enemies.

Dynast realized something was odd--his magical senses alarmed him that something was happening. As his unit proceeded into a valley, they saw Vikifanatic's massive unit chanting their spells. Dynast yelled frantically to his mages to start a counterattack. However, it was too late--grass started to grow and twist around the boots of the mages, qickly growing into thick, green stalks that suffocated and crushed their bones. The Harmonian mages managed to launch a volley of wind magic spells that copped up 5343 of Vikifanatic's mages, but Dynast's own men were falling pray to the exotic nature magic that Dynast was unfamiliar with. Cursing his luck, Dynast teleported out of the battlefield, resulting in the total annihilation of his unit.

Meanwhile, the battle between Sparda and Nutflush raged on. Despite the numerical advantage, Sparda's men were fighting barely equally to the Harmonian forces. The battle turned brutal as both sides suffered huge casualties. Nutflush's men managed to defeat 5738 enemy cavalrymen, but they seemed to keep coming. having lost 6644 men himself--more than half his men, Nutflush decided that he had no chance but to retreat.

Although this meant the loss of Chisha, Nutflush thought of it a better mission to warn his retreating comerades of invading Grasslanders, rather than stay, only to expose his people to a Grassland ambush. He quickly ordered his men to retreat, and Sparda simply let them leave.

The next day, Grassland forces marched into Chisha, much to the jubilee of its people. Yes, Chisha was once again a part of Grassland. Anton Misri and Vikifanatic kissed the earth as they thanked the spirits for their victory.
