I used to think that the Killers were just another pop sensation type band without much substance back when they had just released their 1st album, but my wife liked them and we bought their first CD, and ever since then I've been quite fond of them. I bought their second album, Sam's Town, pretty soon after it came out, and I thought it was even better than the first one. The title song (Sam's Town) I thought was particularly good, but there were several songs on there that I really enjoyed.
I was also able to see them live last year at Vegoose, which is a Halloween music festival in Las Vegas, in which they were very good. I think they were one of the more fun acts to watch. The Killers actually come from Las Vegas, so seeing them in their hometown was quite an experience. I don't really consider myself a Las Vegan, but I've lived here for a few years now and it was just a neat experience. Perhaps that's why I liked the song Sam's Town so much, because Sam's Town is a casino in Las Vegas that is a local favorite ($1 miller light beers ftw).
Anyways, apparently they just released another album called Sawdust, and I've been listening to it on Napster. So far I really like the album--it even has a a live track of Sam's Town played with a piano. It takes me awhile to decide which songs I like on an album though, so I'll refrain from saying which songs are my favorites. I don't have the album yet, but rest assured I will definitely be buying it. I will say that the album has a really interesting sound to it that I can't quite pin down. It sort of has a retro feel to it.
Anyways, is there anybody else out there that likes the Killers or plans on purchasing their new album? _________________

I quite like The Killers, or at least, I quite like their first album. I've yet to have a good listen to Sam's Town and this is the first I've heard of this new one. |

Sawdust isn't a true release. It is actually just a collection of unreleased songs etc. It is still a fantastic album which I recommend to all of you especially since I love the Killers so much to begin with. Anyway it may seem like kind of a downer that it's not a new album but all it means is that we get all this bonus stuff and a full on studio release probably sometime next year. I personally like Shadowplay. _________________

I love Hot Fuss. It's a really awesome album. I wasn't overly fond of Sam's Town but there were a few tracks that I did enjoy. I'll definitely have to check out their new album. _________________ For the first time I feel as though I am reborn
