Insted of allowing the gigantic update to load my stepdad (yes I'm a looser who lives at home) was told to use the "servance pack 2". when I went to install it, it said I should "back up" somthing. they system or, everything incase somthing happens while it updates windows emoticon edition (XP).

also

you know how you can harshly dictate the alignment of your desktop, I can't. Lets say "my computer" was placed at the top of the left hand screen. After I use, lets say a program, or the internet the desktop will refresh and "my computer" will go to the middle row (i have 3 rows of icons). why is this? I opted for "align to grid" and "auto arrange".

so why do my icons hop around the desk top, it is really annoying. If I save a file to the desktop, it shuffles everything around. it traditionaly puts it the next avaliable space.

as always

why don't programs show up in my list when I hit control, alt, delete...this would be helpfull to see if any unwanted programs are running in the background. apparenly nothing comes up, on the other computer this is how I knew I had spyware without a spyware killing program. actaully I had two "runDLLs" runing.
--------
so, can anyone give me an answer, enlighten me? teach me? should we have a special place for help with issues like this?
(mind you Mornica chrunky has problems also, it won't let me go to properties by means of right clicking on my desktop or by going in via control pannel, the screen is being viewed in its near "zoom mode" and I don't like using it that way)

I don't understand. So you're being FORCED to download an update? Usually, there's an option to download those updates later. Logitech, Zone Alarm, AOL Instant Messaging, just about every program I have that needs countless updates has an option to download and update them at another time.

What exactly is it forcing you two to update, anyway?

Well kuwaizair's problem is basically the Windows XP update. It automatically started out of nowhere whenever you connect to internet. But usually it has the option to pause the download (which is the only way to normally ignore it) by right-clicking the icon in system tray. Unfortunately, as mentioned by herself, she couldn't do it again for unknown reason. So I have no idea how to solve it.

My Pc do the same thing, they forced you to download a certain things (porn and so on) I dunno what to do that in the end I have to restart over and over again before being able to get rid of it... And then at times, my mouse doesnt work because the internet explorer keep appearing and showed me all kind of things from "hey download from this site only $1 to be free from spy/advertisement" and "XXX for only $X" >.< IF my pops saw those XXX, My PC is going to get whacked since I'll be accused of watching BLUE film

EDIT: They force me to dl all those kinds of things but I am not able to downloads things I want!

There is a way to disable Windows Updates; I've done it on my computer. I'm not quite sure I understand what your problem with the Control Panel is, but if you go in there, double-click on System and click on the Automatic Updates tab, there's an option there to completely disallow Windows from automatically updating. You might need to finish the update that's already in progress before that will take effect, though.

Baka no fool, your PC seems pretty well messed up. You might want to try reading on spyware and stuff here and see if it tells you anything useful. Try downloading and running a few adware/spyware-removal applications. If that doesn't clear up your problem, I'm afraid you might have to format your harddrive to get your system to run normally again.

I'm tottaly relying on ad ware removal and spyware removal :D . Btw thanks for the advice Synchysi. I'm now thinking of buying new PC this end of year or next year, if not maybe I'm going to reformat my hard drive again for the dunno how many times  ... Ah forgot to mention that site you give me is pretty useful ^^

hmm, what Synchsi suggested is your first course of action. if it annoys you even more, then just format and start again. my computer is getting a little screwy too, you can't leave this thing too long before it starts playing up.

also, what is a "Mornica chrunky"?! did you use a dirty word there - they're not allowed! on top of the fact that your grammer is very difficult to understand, this just adds further confusion. there's been a number of posts where you've confused other members, so if it's not too much, run it through a spell check/Read it out loud/or make sure there is enough information so the next reader understands what you are trying to say, instead of having someone else interpret it for you, and leave a lot of people thinking "What did that person just say? i don't understand". please don't leave your post so static: it makes helping you take that much longer as the info to help you solve the problem are thrown everywhere in the post as you please.

i know your internet is pretty crappy, but i figure if you've got enough time to be online and on a Forum no less, you've got the time to make sure your post is comprehedible by everyone, not just the gifted few who understand you straight away. ahh, um... good luck with your computer troubles though!!!

Baka_no_fool, are you using Internet Explorer? If so, it might be better for you to start changing it into another software like Mozilla's Firefox or Opera or anything as long as not IE. The problem is that some spywares seem to only infected IE users, and that happened to me as well because despite using Firefox for 99% of the times (and being spyware-free), I used IE twice to open sites that aren't showing properly in Firefox, and I got infected with spyware just because of that.

So that might be a partial solution as well for your problem.

I recently got DSL for my computer and might I add it is very fast and reliant...When it works. We found that the people who lived in the house that we're in now had tied an alarm system directly to the phone services and it has been causing problems until just a week ago. Now we're stuck with the problem of the other computer we hooked-up, which is using a router, that's experiencing the same problems as Baka no Fool's. Except I have found that part of the problem actually may be from the anti-virus protection system that is slowing down your computer. Like I am using Norton Anti-virus Protection and ever since we loaded it into the computer, its efficiency rate has been cut in half. I don't know exactly if you guys have the same problems with your software. I'm still in the process of trying to fix it.

thats the name of the "middle" computer, it was acting like a moron and it made lots of chrunking sounds. oddly enough

Thou, M.C's problems stoped yesterday, I don't know how, prehaps it was because I removed some files, but it'll let me change some things. Save for the fact that the screen can only go to a screen view of a maximum of 800x 600
(though this one only has 800x600 or 1040x786)

When I first got ADSL, I was having similar troubles as Baka_no_fool. Every so often (seemed like every 30 minutes, if I was lucky) my connection would just stop and I would have to restart. I had also installed the anti-virus software which came with the package, but after about a day I removed it and ever since my connection has been quite consistent, except on the ocassions of a service disruption.

One time, around the time I got ADSL, I wasn't able to connect and when I called customer support he asked which lights were lit on the modem, and when I told him he asked if the line was connected to the phone jack. It was, of course, but the clip which holds it firmly in place has been broken for a long time, so something must have pulled on the line slightly to pull it out just enough to screw everything up. It was almost embarrassing, actually.

So, I agree with punchdoll, the problems could be caused by the anti-virus software. I know I've got to go into safe mode just to defrag my hard drive, otherwise the anti-virus inevitably messes up the process and nothing ever gets done.
