War Battles and Levels

I was wondering if the levels of the characters has any affect on how they perform on in the war battles. For example, if a certain character gets more charge/barrage, more ATT or DEF PLUS if they are in a higher level.

I don't think so. To raise ATK/DEF in a unit, you have to put someone that has +5 ability in said unit like Richard or Shigure. Same thing goes for people who have Charge/Barrage as their ability.

No leveling your units will not affect tactical combat at all so you don't have to worry about that, like what was mentioned you need units that say +5 defense or +5 attack next to their picture.

no, although some people have a higher ranking (making them more effective in battle), which makes them a better choice for leading units.

boz (?)
rahal (?)

the highest ranks in battle; they'll do the most damage against units who are weak to them; there are a total of four that have this highest ranking. raja and wilhelm, i'm sure of, but boz and rahal, i'm not.

the others will give bonuses, such as an extra attack/magic attack, additional defense/offense, but you have to be careful of how they're slotted, because slotting a member in the wrong unit can sometimes negate their bonus.

The four best unit leaders with 5 stars rating: Raja, Wilhelm, Craig and Shula.

Then, a lot of them come with 4's. With a few 3's.
