is the Star rune a reincarnation/child rune of the night rune from what i was told about Zerase needing the night rune to win the final battle((even though it is a sword))

I know I haven't played this game long enough, but with the 2nd level elemental runes (cyclone, thunder, rage) can there be coop attacks like in the previous games?
